How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Area Sales Engineer

    £42,000 - £48,000 + Car + Bonus

    Engineering @365 is working with a globally recognised manufacturer that specialises in premium workholding, toolholding, clamping and automation solutions for the manufacturing industry. Renowned for engineering excellence and innovation, the company supplies high-quality precision products to customers across a wide range of sectors, including aerospace, automotive, medical, precision engineering and general manufacturing.

    About the Role

    Due to continued growth, our client is looking to recruit a Business Development Manager to join its UK field sales team, covering a large and well-established territory across the Midlands, Wales and the South West.

    The sales territory stretches from Bristol through the Midlands, across to Lincolnshire and west to Anglesey, encompassing the whole of Wales. While the preferred location is within the West Midlands (Staffordshire, Shropshire, Worcestershire or Warwickshire), applications are welcomed from candidates based elsewhere who are willing to travel throughout the region.

    This is a consultative technical sales role focused on developing existing customer relationships whilst identifying new business opportunities across the territory. Working closely with customers, you will provide expert advice on engineering solutions that improve manufacturing performance, increase productivity and support customers with their machining requirements.

    The successful candidate will work remotely while maintaining regular contact with the UK office and collaborating closely with the technical and engineering teams to deliver tailored solutions for customers.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Develop and grow sales across an established Midlands and Wales territory.

    * Build strong relationships with both existing and prospective customers.

    * Identify and secure new business opportunities across a range of manufacturing sectors.

    * Provide technical sales support and recommend suitable workholding and tooling solutions.

    * Understand customer manufacturing processes and offer practical engineering solutions.

    * Work closely with internal engineering and technical teams to support customer requirements.

    * Prepare quotations and negotiate commercial agreements.

    * Represent the business at customer meetings, trade exhibitions and industry events.

    * Maintain accurate CRM records, sales forecasts and activity reports.

    * Deliver exceptional customer service while promoting the company's products and solutions.

    What We're Looking For

    * Previous experience in a Business Development Manager, Area Sales Manager, Technical Sales Engineer or Field Sales Engineer role.

    * Experience selling into manufacturing, CNC machining, precision engineering or machine tool industries.

    * Knowledge of workholding, toolholding, cutting tools, CNC machinery or precision engineering products would be highly advantageous.

    * Proven ability to develop long-term customer relationships and generate new business.

    * Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills.

    * Self-motivated with the ability to manage a large field-based territory independently.

    * Full UK driving licence.

    * A mechanical engineering or manufacturing background would be advantageous but is not essential.

    What's on Offer

    * Competitive salary with performance-related bonus.

    * Company car.

    * Permanent full-time position.

    * Opportunity to join an established global engineering manufacturer.

    * Comprehensive product training and ongoing professional development.

    * Excellent long-term career prospects.

    * Autonomy within a field-based role supported by an experienced UK team.
