How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Description:

    Extrusion Operative

    Department: Production
    Reports to: Production Line Manager, Plant Manager and Shift Technical Setter
    Vacancies: 3 permanent positions available

    Salary and Benefits

    -Starting salary: £28,107 per annum

    -Shift allowance: £2,400 per annum

    -Total starting earnings: £30,507 per annum

    -Salary increases to £30,000 per annum, plus the £2,400 shift allowance, once fully trained, competent and able to start and operate the production line independently.

    -Total earnings when fully trained: £32,400 per annum

    -Laundry allowance: £5 per month

    The Role

    We are currently recruiting three Extrusion Operatives to join our busy production team.

    The successful candidates will be responsible for operating extrusion production lines safely and efficiently, ensuring products are manufactured to the required quality standards, specifications and production schedules. You will also support preventative maintenance, quality inspections, accurate production records and continuous improvement activities.

    Full training and development will be provided, with a salary increase available once you are fully competent and able to start and run the production line independently.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Operate the extrusion production line safely, correctly and efficiently throughout the shift.

    * Manufacture products in accordance with production plans, specifications and work instructions.

    * Complete all required product quality checks and report any defects or non-conformances.

    * Ensure finished products are packaged correctly in line with company and customer requirements.

    * Monitor production performance and help maintain accurate Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) information and reports.

    * Identify and report production, machinery or quality issues that could affect output or efficiency.

    * Liaise with the Shift Manager and technical team to resolve operational problems.

    * Complete preventative maintenance activities when required.

    * Maintain the cleanliness and condition of the production line and surrounding work area.

    * Protect the integrity of machinery and immediately report any damage, faults or maintenance requirements.

    * Complete production paperwork and accurately enter information into relevant systems.

    * Follow all company health, safety, quality and operating procedures.

    * Help minimise production downtime through efficient working practices and proactive problem-solving.

    * Contribute ideas that could improve safety, quality, productivity or production processes.

    * Undertake other reasonable duties required to support the needs of the production department.

    Skills and Experience

    * Previous experience within extrusion, plastics manufacturing, production or a similar process-driven environment would be advantageous.

    * Good technical understanding of machinery and production processes.

    * Ability to work accurately while meeting production deadlines and targets.

    * Strong commitment to quality, safety and operational standards.

    * Good attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

    * Able to complete paperwork and maintain accurate production records.

    * Basic IT skills and confidence entering information into production systems.

    * Flexible, reliable and adaptable to changing production requirements.

    * Able to communicate effectively with managers, technical staff and colleagues.

    * Willingness to learn and develop further technical knowledge of extrusion processes.

    Training and Development

    The successful candidates will receive training to develop their technical knowledge and become fully competent in:

    Starting and operating an extrusion production line independently.

    Running production equipment safely and efficiently.

    Completing product quality checks and production documentation.

    Identifying and responding to production or machinery issues.

    Operating at least two different extrusion lines.

    Supporting continuous improvement across the production process.
