How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The role

    Ferrovial Construction is seeking a Graduate Civils Structures Engineer to join the HS2 Track infrastructure project during its initial design phase, which will run alongside the completion of main works contracts currently at their peak.

    As a Slab Track – Graduate Civil Structural Engineer, you will support the coordination and integration of interfaces between civil structures (viaducts, bridges, tunnels, and earthworks) and the Standard Slab Track system. You will work closely with the Civils Design Integration Lead and wider design teams to ensure that interfaces are understood, coordinated, and appropriately detailed.

    The Ferrovial 2-year graduate development programme is designed to develop personal, professional and technical skills through a blended approach. You will work under the supervision of Section/Project Managers and in collaboration with the site team.

    Location: Euston, London

    Flexibility to travel to Birmingham when required.

    This role will involve developing an understanding of structural and geotechnical behaviour, including:

    *

    Liaise closely with the Designer to ensure design delivery is timely, optimised and aligned with the client’s requirements.

    *

    Attend the weekly meetings with the construction team and broader design team and client in Birmingham / London.

    *

    Support optimisation studies and coordinate with commercial, planning, design delivery teams and designers.

    *

    Provide technical input and support for relevant commercial communications, including SNCs, NCRs, CEs and departures.

    *

    Support progressive technical assurance throughout the design, construction and handover stages.

    Key Accountabilities

    *

    Assist in the coordination of interfaces between railway track systems and civil structures.

    *

    Support the assessment of structural behaviour, including:

    *

    Bridge and viaduct movements (temperature, creep, shrinkage, live loads)

    *

    Settlement and differential settlement effects

    *

    Expansion joints, bearings, and articulation systems

    *

    Review engineering drawings, models, and interface details to ensure compatibility.

    *

    Contribute to design reviews, technical workshops, and interdisciplinary coordination meetings.

    *

    Support the preparation and maintenance of:

    *

    Interface Control Documents (ICDs)

    *

    Interface registers and tracking tools

    *

    Identify potential risks, constraints, and clashes at structural interfaces.

    *

    Track actions and ensure timely closure of design coordination issues.

    *

    Liaise with construction and delivery teams to ensure designs are buildable and aligned with programme requirements.

    *

    Support technical assurance processes across design, construction, and handover stages.

    *

    Assist in reviewing monitoring reports, certificates, and design documentation.

    *

    Support the identification of project risks, changes, and improvement opportunities.

    *

    Contribute to technical inputs for commercial processes (e.g. NCRs, change events, departures).

    *

    Promote cost efficiency, buildability, and value engineering solutions.

    *

    Promote high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.

    *

    Contribute to safe-by-design principles and best practice engineering solutions.

    *

    Work closely with the Designer to ensure design delivery is timely, optimised and aligned with the client’s requirements.

    *

    Attend the weekly meetings with the construction team and broader design team and client in Birmingham / London.

    *

    Support optimisation studies and liaise with commercial, planning, design delivery teams and designers.

    *

    Support delivery of technical assurance during design, construction and handover process.

    Skills and Competence

    We are looking for graduates with:

    -Excellent communication skills and ability to interact at a variety of levels

    -Degree or master’s in engineering (All disciplines considered)

    -Motivated to learn and add value to the team, the role and the Graduate programme

    -Analytical thinker who enjoys problem solving

    -A proven team player who can effectively work with others

    -Proactive approach to working and learning

    -Commercial awareness and an understanding of the industry

    -Familiar with all Microsoft packages

    Desirable

    -Knowledge of Health and Safety Legislation

    -Engineering experience

    -Understanding of structural engineering principles, including movements and tolerances in bridges and viaducts.

    -CSCS Card

    -Knowledge of slab track systems or track-structure interaction.

    Familiarity with:

    -Eurocodes and UK design standards

    -Interface management processes (ICDs, risk registers, change control)

    -BIM and 3D coordination tools

    Essential:

    Must have right to work in the UK by the start of employment and throughout the entirety of the graduate program.
