How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Quantity Surveyor | Exeter | Temp-to-PermLocation: Exeter

    We're recruiting on behalf of a well-established contractor for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team based in Exeter.
    This is an excellent opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor from any construction or infrastructure background looking to join a business with a strong pipeline of work and the opportunity to secure a permanent position.
    The RoleAs Quantity Surveyor, you'll support the commercial delivery of a range of projects, ensuring costs are effectively managed while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and the wider project team.
    This role offers exposure to a variety of projects and would suit someone looking to develop their career within a supportive and growing organisation.
    Key Responsibilities
    Manage project costs from inception through to final account.
    Prepare and submit valuations, applications and variations.
    Procure and manage subcontractor packages.
    Review and negotiate subcontractor accounts.
    Monitor project budgets and produce cost reports.
    Identify commercial risks and opportunities.
    Support contract administration and ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
    Work closely with operational teams to ensure projects are delivered profitably.About YouWe're looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong commercial mindset.
    Ideally you'll have:

    Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
    Experience within construction, infrastructure, utilities, civil engineering, fit-out, M&E or a related sector.
    Good understanding of standard forms of contract (NEC, JCT or similar).
    Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
    Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
    Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting.
