How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Are you an experienced CNC Operator looking to join a well-established and growing structural steel manufacturer?

    Our client is seeking a motivated and reliable CNC Operator to join their busy production team. Working within a modern steel fabrication facility, you'll play a vital role in processing structural steel components for a wide range of construction and engineering projects, ensuring materials are accurately prepared to support fabrication and production schedules.

    The Role

    As a CNC Operator, you will be responsible for operating CNC band saws, drill lines, coping machines and laser cutting equipment to process structural steel components safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. Working from production drawings and cut lists, you'll ensure materials are prepared accurately and on time while maintaining excellent standards of health and safety.

    Key Responsibilities

    Operate CNC band saws, drill lines, coping machines and laser cutting equipment.
    Process structural steel sections in line with production schedules and engineering specifications.
    Read and interpret cut lists, production drawings and work instructions.
    Load and unload steel sections using overhead cranes and lifting equipment.
    Carry out quality inspections to ensure components meet dimensional tolerances and customer specifications.
    Maintain machinery and equipment in line with company procedures.
    Support production by working efficiently to meet manufacturing deadlines.
    Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
    Comply with all company Health & Safety policies and site procedures.
    Provide support across other manufacturing sites when required.

    About You

    We're looking for someone with previous experience operating CNC machinery within a manufacturing or steel fabrication environment who takes pride in producing high-quality work.

    You'll ideally have:

    Experience operating CNC machinery within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
    Experience using band saws, drill lines, coping machines or laser cutting equipment.
    A good understanding of structural steel processing and fabrication.
    The ability to read production drawings, cut lists and engineering instructions.
    Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to tight tolerances.
    A strong commitment to health and safety.
    A reliable, proactive approach and excellent timekeeping.
    The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

    Desirable

    While not essential, the following would be advantageous:

    Overhead Crane Licence.
    Forklift Truck Licence.
    Experience operating mobile plant.
    Previous experience within a structural steel fabrication environment.
    Experience loading and unloading steel materials.
