How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Food Product Developer

    Location: Middlesbrough

    Salary: £30,000 - £45,000 per annum

    Hours: Monday to Thursday: 8:30am - 5:00pm | Friday: 8:00am - 4:00pm

    Travel: Required to UK manufacturing sites and customer locations as needed (must be able to drive)

    The Opportunity

    We are currently recruiting for three Food Product Developers to join a dynamic and innovative New Product Development team based in Middlesbrough.

    This is an exciting opportunity for passionate food professionals who thrive on creating new products and improving existing ranges. You'll play a key role in bringing products from concept through to launch, working closely with customers and cross-functional teams to deliver commercially successful food products.

    Key Responsibilities

    Develop new and existing products in line with customer requirements, budgets and project timelines.
    Generate innovative product ideas and support a pipeline of new product development projects.
    Participate in internal and customer innovation sessions.
    Build strong relationships with customer product development teams and act as a key point of contact.
    Collaborate with Technical, Commercial, Operations and Procurement teams to ensure product feasibility and successful delivery.
    Lead product presentations to customers and internal stakeholders.
    Support the resolution of challenges relating to scalability, manufacturing processes and sustainability.
    Ensure all recipes and products meet quality, commercial and brand standards.
    Complete and maintain accurate NPD documentation and project records.
    Conduct benchmarking activities and present findings and recommendations.
    Monitor market trends, consumer insights and competitor activity to drive innovation.
    Travel to manufacturing sites and customer meetings when required.

    About You

    We're looking for creative, commercially minded product developers with a genuine passion for food and innovation.

    Essential Skills & Experience

    Experience within food product development, ideally in supermarket own-label products.
    Experience within a retail, manufacturing or FMCG environment.
    Strong customer-facing and relationship-building skills.
    Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
    Strong organisational and project management skills.
    Good analytical and numerical capabilities.
    High level of attention to detail.
    Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
    Full UK driving licence is essential
    A genuine passion for food and emerging market trends.
