How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Polypipe Building Products are focused on delivering solutions to the residential sector. Polypipe Building Products works with national and local developers, plumbing and heating engineers, general builders and groundworkers to deliver above and below ground drainage systems, rainwater solutions as well as hot and cold plastic plumbing products.

Part of the Genuit Group, we combine long-term stability with a culture built on teamwork, accountability and continuous improvement. We encourage fresh ideas, invest in development and are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and supportive workplace where everyone feels like they belong.

    About the role

We're looking for an Extrusion Tooling Preparation Operative to join our team. You'll be responsible for looking after the tooling used within our extrusion department, making sure it's clean, well maintained and ready for production.

The role involves cleaning, repairing and inspecting tooling, carrying out routine checks, and helping identify when tools need replacing or improving. By keeping our tooling in the best possible condition, you'll help the production team reduce downtime, improve quality and keep everything running smoothly.

    What you'll be doing

    Your main responsibilities will include:

    *

Cleaning, maintaining and repairing extrusion tooling.

    *

Inspecting tooling for wear or damage and recommending repairs or replacements where needed.

    *

Testing mechanical and electrical components before tools are released back into production.

    *

Keeping accurate maintenance records and reporting any recurring issues.

    *

Monitoring tooling consumables and maintaining suitable stock levels.

    *

Checking returned tooling to make sure it's complete and ready for use.

    *

Updating tooling reports once work has been completed.

    *

Working to the production plan to ensure tooling is available when required.

    *

Retaining last-off samples for future reference.

    *

Making sure all measurements and settings meet tooling specifications.

You'll also support colleagues by sharing knowledge on tooling care, cleaning methods and measurement techniques, and work with suppliers where required to help resolve quality issues or introduce new tooling developments.

    What we're looking for

We're looking for someone who takes pride in doing a job properly and enjoys working in a practical, hands-on environment.

    You'll ideally have:

    *

Experience maintaining and repairing extrusion tooling.

    *

Good polishing skills and an eye for detail.

    *

Knowledge of tool steels, tool assemblies, alignment gauges and coating technologies.

    *

The ability to read engineering drawings and work to specifications.

    *

Experience using machinery for minor tooling repairs.

    *

Knowledge of continuity testing for heaters.

    *

A good understanding of safe cleaning methods and equipment.

    *

    Mechanical problem-solving skills.

    *

An understanding of extrusion processes or experience setting up extrusion lines.

    *

Good organisational skills and the ability to keep accurate records.

Qualifications in Extrusion Technology, Mechanical Engineering or similar would be an advantage, as would experience with cranes, lifting and slinging, or FLT operation.

    Health & Safety

Working safely is part of everyone's job. You'll be expected to follow all company Health, Safety and Environmental procedures, use equipment safely and help maintain a clean and safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.

    A few final points

Like most roles in manufacturing, priorities can change, so there may be times when you'll be asked to support other tasks within the department. We're looking for someone who's happy to get involved, work as part of the team and help us deliver the best possible service to our customers.

    What you'll get

    *

    Rotating shifts doing Days, Nights & Afters. 06:00 - 14:00, 14:00 - 22:00 & 22:00 - 06:00

    *

Company pension with employer contributions matched up to 8%

    *

    Life assurance

    *

    Enhanced maternity and paternity pay

    *

    Sharesave Scheme

    *

    Cycle to Work scheme

    *

Occupational health, physiotherapy and counselling services

    *

    Ongoing training and development opportunities

    *

The chance to build a long-term career with the Genuit Group
