How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Teaching Assistant - SEN Team (Primary School)

    Academics are working in partnership with a welcoming and nurturing Primary School in Ashford that are seeking dedicated Teaching Assistants to join their established SEN Team from September. This is an excellent opportunity to make a genuine difference to the lives of children with additional needs while working as part of a collaborative and experienced support team.

    Although a mainstream primary school, the school has a strong commitment to inclusion and provides extensive support for pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

    The Role

    As a Teaching Assistant within the school's SEN Team, you will play a key role in supporting pupils across the school by:

    Providing dedicated 1:1 support for children with additional needs.
    Delivering targeted intervention sessions to individuals and small groups.
    Supporting pupils with ASC, SLCN and SEMH to access learning and achieve their full potential.
    Assisting with behaviour management and promoting positive engagement in lessons.
    Working closely with class teachers, the SENCO and the wider SEN Team to deliver personalised support.
    Supporting within the classroom when required, helping to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment for all pupils.

    The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

    Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or within an SEN setting.
    Experience supporting children with ASC, SLCN, SEMH or other additional needs.
    A patient, resilient and compassionate approach to supporting young people.
    Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
    A proactive attitude and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
    A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
    An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.
