How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Role

    As a Children's Support Worker, you will provide high-quality care and support to children and young people who may display challenging behaviours, experience mental health difficulties and have experienced trauma, including those who have previously lived in foster care or other care settings.

    You'll play a vital role in helping each child feel safe, valued and supported while promoting their emotional wellbeing, independence and personal development.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Provide high-quality, child-centred care and support.

    * Build positive, trusting relationships while maintaining professional boundaries.

    * Support children who display challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support strategies.

    * Promote emotional wellbeing and resilience through a therapeutic approach.

    * Help children develop independence and essential life skills.

    * Follow individual care plans, behaviour support plans and risk assessments.

    * Safeguard children and report any concerns in line with policies and procedures.

    * Support children to attend education, appointments and community activities.

    * Complete accurate daily records, incident reports and handovers.

    * Work collaboratively with social workers, education providers and other professionals.

    * Promote a safe, stable and nurturing home environment.

    * Follow all health and safety, fire safety and safeguarding procedures at all times.

    What We're Looking For

    * Previous experience working within a children's residential home or supporting children and young people is essential.

    * Experience supporting children with challenging behaviour, trauma and mental health needs.

    * Understanding of safeguarding and child protection.

    * Ability to remain calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations.

    * Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

    * Flexible to work ad hoc shifts, including evenings and weekends.

    * A caring, reliable and child-focused approach.

    What's on Offer

    * £12.71 per hour.

    * Flexible ad hoc shifts to fit around your availability.

    * Opportunity to work within a brand-new children's home.

    * Ongoing support from Rotherwood Recruitment.

    * Excellent opportunity to gain further experience within children's residential care.

    * A rewarding role where you can positively impact the lives of vulnerable children and young people.

    If you're passionate about helping children reach their full potential and have the experience to provide high-quality residential support, we'd love to hear from you
