How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Are you an experienced Civil & Structural Engineer looking to take on a technically challenging role within a major UK infrastructure programme?
We're seeking a Principal Civil & Structural Design Engineer to provide technical leadership across the design and assurance of buildings, structures, groundworks and site infrastructure on a complex, highly regulated engineering project. This is an opportunity to influence engineering decisions from concept through to delivery while working on a first-of-a-kind programme where innovation, technical excellence and sound engineering judgement are critical.

    The Role
Working as part of an integrated engineering team, you'll act as the technical authority for civil and structural engineering, ensuring designs are safe, compliant, integrated and delivered to the required level of maturity.
You'll provide expert guidance across multidisciplinary interfaces, helping shape design strategy while managing technical risks, governance and engineering assurance throughout the project lifecycle.
    Key Responsibilities

Provide Civil & Structural Engineering Design Authority support across buildings, structures, groundworks and site infrastructure.
Define and maintain the civil engineering design basis, principles and technical requirements.
Lead technical governance, design reviews and engineering assurance activities.
Ensure seamless integration between civil works and wider engineering systems.
Identify and manage technical risks, assumptions and design dependencies.
Support concept development and translate emerging requirements into practical engineering solutions.
Assess design maturity and readiness for key project milestones, including construction.
Provide independent technical challenge and ensure engineering decisions maintain design integrity.
Support safety case development and compliance within a highly regulated environment.
    About You
We're looking for engineers who can demonstrate:

Significant experience in Civil & Structural Engineering within complex engineering or highly regulated industries.
Experience acting in a Design Authority, Technical Authority or Lead Engineering capacity.
Strong knowledge of civil structures, buildings, foundations, infrastructure and engineering governance.
    Experience managing multidisciplinary design interfaces.
Excellent understanding of engineering assurance, technical risk management and design reviews.
Knowledge of CDM Regulations and statutory engineering obligations.
The ability to make sound engineering decisions where requirements are evolving or design information is incomplete.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

    Desirable Experience
    Experience in sectors such as:

    Nuclear
    Defence
    Energy
    Rail
    Petrochemical
    Major infrastructure
    Other highly regulated engineering environments
    What's on Offer?

    Hybrid working
    West Burton Power Station
Opportunity to play a key technical leadership role on one of the UK's most complex engineering programmes.
Long-term project with genuine extension potential.
If you're a Civil & Structural Engineer who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, influencing technical direction and working at the forefront of major infrastructure delivery, we'd love to hear from you
