Payroll Advisor
Location: Aberdeen or Glasgow
Working Structure: Hybrid (3 Days Office / 2 Days Home)
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 + Excellent Benefits
This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional with bureau experience who enjoys managing multiple client payrolls and delivering a first-class service. You'll take ownership of a portfolio of complex payrolls, support junior team members, and play a key role in driving continuous improvement across the function.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver accurate end-to-end payroll services across a diverse portfolio of bureau clients.
- Manage complex payroll activities and resolve client queries while maintaining compliance.
- Review payroll calculations, reports and BACS payments to ensure accuracy and audit compliance.
- Coordinate the successful onboarding and implementation of new payroll clients.
- Maintain and improve payroll procedures, documentation and client process guides.
- Provide day-to-day support, guidance and coaching to junior members of the payroll team.
- Help manage team workflows to ensure all payroll deadlines are achieved.
- Keep up to date with payroll legislation and implement changes where required.
- Support payroll system testing, upgrades and continuous process improvements.
About You
- Proven experience processing UK payroll using STAR Payroll (essential).
- Previous payroll bureau experience managing multiple client payrolls.
- Experience processing payrolls for organisations with 100+ employees.
- Strong knowledge of end-to-end UK payroll, HMRC legislation and statutory requirements.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted client relationships.
- Previous experience reviewing payrolls, supporting colleagues or mentoring junior team members would be beneficial.
