How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Industry Governance Specialist 


    Reports to - Head of Service Delivery, Joint Office of Gas Transporters 

    Location - Solihull/Hybrid Working 

    Salary - £45,000 - 55,000

     

    Job Purpose: 

    To support the effective coordination and delivery of gas industry governance processes relating to the Uniform Network Code (UNC), helping to ensure robust, transparent and timely decision-making across UNC governance arrangements. 


    The Industry Governance Specialist provides governance expertise and practical support to Chairpersons of Industry Workgroups, UNC sub-committees, cross-industry workgroups/forums and the UNC Modification Panel Secretary, exercising sound judgement to support effective governance outcomes. To ensure due process is maintained at all times and to facilitate the development of Code delivery processes.


    As a trusted advisor to industry stakeholders and regulators, the role supports the development and delivery of industry change while helping to safeguard the integrity of the governance framework. The role also contributes to the delivery of governance services within the Joint Office of Gas Transporters, supporting organisational performance, capability and reputation. 

     

    Key Accountabilities: 

    • Provide expertise and industry support on the administration of the UNC governance processes. 
    • Support the effective operation of UNC Modification Workgroups, sub-committees and other relevant workgroups, helping to facilitate discussion and progress governance matters. 
    • Support cross-industry development workgroups and forums where required, contributing to effective discussion, issue resolution and progression of agreed actions. 
    • Provide trusted governance advice and constructive challenge to proposers of UNC modifications. 
    • Provide Support to Encodar and the Joint Office on any internal projects. 
    • Produce high-quality minutes, reports and governance documentation. 
    • Understand the key drivers for industry change and support the development of the governance relationships with The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ), Ofgem, Code Administrators,  Code Managers and other key stakeholders. 
    • Manage the delivery of efficient and effective UNC governance arrangements to ensure proposed changes are developed in a timely manner. 
    • Contribute expertise to the development and maintenance of industry governance documents, including the Code Administrators Code of Practice (CACoP). 
    • Build positive working relationships with Joint Office stakeholders, contributing to a reputation for excellence in code governance. 

     

    Qualifications and Experience: 

    • Degree-level education, equivalent qualification or experience demonstrating comparable professional acumen. 
    • Experience working collaboratively with stakeholders and managing conflicting views. 
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 
    • Relevant experience in regulated energy markets or related disciplines. 

     

    Knowledge and Experience Required: 

    • Ability to support industry meetings by encouraging open discussion, applying objective assessment and maintaining focus on delivering the meeting’s purpose. 
    • Adaptable and dependable, with the ability to make sound decisions in complex situations. 
    • Good level of commercial and/or regulatory experience in the gas industry. 
    • Good understanding of GB gas-related commercial and regulatory issues. 
    • Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in external environments, with the ability to influence, negotiate and build effective senior-level relationships. 
    • Knowledge of the UNC or other code arrangements, such as the iGT UNC, REC or SEC, would be desirable. 
    • Good knowledge of the regulatory framework and regulatory bodies such as Ofgem / DESNZ / NESO and/or other industry bodies. 
    • Organisational/administrative skills with clear attention to detail.
    • Good knowledge of current issues and the direction of travel in the UK energy market, including Net Zero 2050 and Clean Power 2030. 
    • Project management skills would be desirable.
