How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Salary: Unqualified Lecturer: £29,294 per year, pro rata Qualified Lecturer: £31,885 - £40,814 per year, pro rata (Depending on Skills, Qualifications & Experience)

    Unqualified Lecturer: £29,294 per year, pro rata

    Qualified Lecturer: £31,885 - £40,814 per year, pro rata (Depending on Skills, Qualifications & Experience)

    What You’ll Do

    • Teach and assess learners across a range of ESOL programmes and levels
    • Deliver engaging, inclusive lessons that develop speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills
    • Support learners from a variety of linguistic, cultural, and educational backgrounds
    • Create a positive and welcoming learning environment that promotes confidence and progression
    • Prepare learners for further study, employment, and everyday communication in English
    • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, professionalism, and learner wellbeing
    • Track learner progress and provide constructive feedback to support achievement

    What You’ll Bring

    • A relevant qualification in English, ESOL, Linguistics, Languages, Education, or a related subject (Level 3 or above)
    • Strong knowledge of English language teaching and language acquisition principles
    • The ability to engage and motivate learners with varying levels of English proficiency
    • Experience working with learners or supporting others in education, training, or community settings
    • Experience teaching ESOL or working with multilingual learners is advantageous
    • A commitment to inclusive teaching, cultural awareness, and learner success
    • A teaching qualification is welcomed — but if you don’t have one yet, we’ll support you to achieve it while you work
