How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    An established and growing specialist within the fire door sector is looking to appoint an experienced Estimating Team Lead/Manager to head up its estimating function. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior estimator or existing estimating manager looking to play a key role in developing a high-performing team while remaining involved in technically challenging tenders.

    You'll lead the estimating process from enquiry through to handover, ensuring quotations are accurate, commercially competitive and technically compliant, while supporting the continued growth of the business.

    Reporting into the senior leadership team, you will be responsible for leading the estimating department, overseeing tender submissions and driving continual improvements across estimating processes and team performance.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Lead and mentor a team of estimators, providing coaching, technical guidance and performance management

    * Manage fire door tenders from initial enquiry through to submission and project handover

    * Produce and review estimates using Schedule of Rates (SOR) pricing and first-principles estimating

    * interpret drawings, specifications and tender documentation to develop accurate pricing solutions

    * Review technical proposals to ensure commercially viable and compliant solutions

    * Manage tender programmes, internal approvals and submission deadlines

    * Identify commercial, contractual and technical risks within tenders

    * Liaise with clients throughout the tender process, responding to technical and commercial queries

    * Work closely with internal sales and operational teams to ensure a smooth transition from tender to delivery

    * Monitor estimating pipeline, team performance and key business metrics

    * Support continuous improvement of estimating procedures and customer service standards

    We're looking for an experienced estimator with leadership capability and a strong understanding of fire door projects.

    You will ideally have:

    * Previous estimating experience within passive fire protection, fire doors or a closely related construction discipline

    * Experience leading, mentoring or managing an estimating team

    * Strong understanding of Schedule of Rates and/or first-principles estimating

    * Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications

    * Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail

    * Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

    * Good IT skills and experience using estimating software and Microsoft Office

    * The ability to prioritise multiple tenders while maintaining accuracy under pressure

    Package

    * Salary circa £50,000 depending on experience

    * Competitive bonus scheme

    * 23 days annual leave plus bank holidays

    * Wellbeing programme

    * Cycle to Work scheme

    * Electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme

    * Free on-site parking

    * Regular company events

    * Long-term career progression within a growing specialist business

    If you're an experienced estimator looking to take the next step into leadership, or an existing Estimating Team Leader seeking a fresh challenge with genuine progression opportunities, we'd love to hear from you
