How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    You will like

Monitoring environmental compliance for a respected consultancy as an Environmental Clerk of Works in Scotland (remote working from Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen or Inverness). Working with a forward-thinking company dedicated to delivering high-quality environmental advice across diverse infrastructure projects, you’ll benefit from a supportive environment that values professional growth. Enjoy working on exciting projects in housing development, renewable energy, and road infrastructure, all whilst being part of a close-knit team committed to excellence and sustainable development.

    You will like

The Environmental Clerk of Works role itself offers a dynamic mix of on-site environmental monitoring, compliance auditing, and technical reporting. You’ll be responsible for delivering on-site advice, overseeing environmental regulation compliance, and supporting project delivery — all with the opportunity to develop your expertise while making a tangible difference. The position will see you liaising with a variety of stakeholders, from contractors to regulators, ensuring environmental standards are met and exceeded. Whether working independently or within a collaborative team, this role provides a rewarding environment for those passionate about environmental sustainability and infrastructure development.

NB A full job specification will be made available to shortlisted candidates before interview.

    You will have

To be successful as Environmental Clerk of Works, you will have a healthy mix of the following:

A relevant degree in Environmental Management or a related discipline, with a preference for those holding further education qualifications such as an MSc (desirable but not essential).

    A full UK driver’s licence.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Confidence working outdoors on construction sites and in team environments.

Good time management skills and accurate record-keeping capabilities.

Desirable skills for more senior candidates include experience in advising contractors, understanding environmental legislation, and building effective relationships with project stakeholders. Membership of the Association of Environmental Clerks of Works (AECoW) and a current CSCS card are advantageous, alongside knowledge of regulatory frameworks such as CAR, SuDS, and EIA.

    You will get

As Environmental Clerk of Works, you will enjoy a competitive salary, likely £32K-£44K DOE

Flexible hybrid working arrangements to support your work-life balance.

A comprehensive benefits package including generous holiday allowance and a company pension scheme.

Investment in your professional development through training and mentoring.

The chance to work on a variety of impactful environmental projects across Scotland.

Supportive team environment with opportunities for career progression and skill enhancement.
