How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Contracts Manager
Location: Hamilton, Scotland (Projects across Central Scotland)
Salary: Up to £65,000 + Bonus + Company Car/Car Allowance + Excellent Benefits

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Contracts Manager to join a well-established and highly respected electrical engineering contractor delivering critical High Voltage (HV) and Low Voltage (LV) projects across Scotland. This is far more than a traditional Contracts Manager position. You'll step into a senior leadership role with full operational and commercial responsibility for a portfolio of HV and LV projects, managing established teams, developing key client relationships, and helping drive the next phase of the business's growth.

Working closely with the Operations Manager, you'll play a pivotal role in leading project delivery, managing profitability, supporting strategic business development, and ensuring exceptional service for a long-standing portfolio of prestigious clients. Projects focus on HV and industrial LV electrical systems, including switchgear and switchboards, rather than traditional commercial electrical installation work.

If you're looking for a role where your experience will genuinely influence the direction of a successful business, this is an opportunity not to be missed.

    The Role
As Senior Contracts Manager, you'll take ownership of multiple electrical engineering projects from contract award through to successful completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget. You'll provide leadership across both operational and commercial activities, overseeing project teams while maintaining strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.

    Key responsibilities include:
    - Leading the successful delivery of HV and LV engineering projects across Central Scotland.
    - Taking full commercial ownership of project performance, including P&L responsibility, budgets, cash flow, and profitability.
    - Managing and mentoring Contracts Managers, Project Managers and wider operational teams to drive performance and continuous improvement.
    - Reviewing, interpreting, and managing NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, identifying commercial risks and ensuring contracts are administered effectively.
    - Working closely with estimators and operational teams to manage project variations and commercial opportunities.
    - Developing project programmes, allocating resources, and ensuring successful project execution.
    - Building and maintaining excellent relationships with existing clients while supporting the identification of new business opportunities.
    - Driving high standards of quality, safety, and operational excellence across all projects.
    - Working collaboratively with senior management to support business strategy, forecasting, and operational planning.
    - Championing a positive culture focused on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

    About You
We're looking for a commercially minded leader who enjoys taking ownership, building strong relationships, and delivering complex engineering projects. You'll likely come from an electrical contracting, engineering, infrastructure, or hard services background and have experience managing multiple projects while leading successful teams.

    You'll ideally have:
    - Proven experience as a Senior Contracts Manager, Contracts Manager or similar leadership role within an electrical engineering or engineering contracting environment.
    - Experience managing HV and/or LV electrical projects (HV exposure is advantageous but not essential).
    - Strong commercial awareness with experience managing project P&L, budgets, and financial performance.
    - A solid understanding of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts and contract administration.
    - Excellent leadership skills with experience developing and managing multi-disciplinary project teams.
    - Strong client relationship management skills with the confidence to engage at all levels.
    - The ability to identify commercial opportunities while maintaining exceptional customer service.
    - Excellent organisational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
    - A proactive, hands-on management style with the confidence to make decisions and drive projects forward.

    Desirable:
    - Higher qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
    - SMSTS qualification.
    - Experience working within electrical infrastructure, utilities, or industrial engineering sectors.

    What's on Offer?
    - Salary up to £65,000
    - Annual performance-related bonus
    - Company car or car allowance
    - Excellent benefits package
    - Long-term career progression within an established engineering business
    - Opportunity to work on major infrastructure projects across Scotland
    - High levels of autonomy and genuine influence over business performance
    - Stable workload with a strong portfolio of long-standing repeat clients
    - Supportive senior leadership team and collaborative working environment

If you're an experienced Contracts Manager looking to step into a broader leadership role - or an established Senior Contracts Manager looking for greater autonomy, responsibility and the opportunity to make a real impact - we'd love to hear from you.
