How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Android Developer

    Rate: £350 - £400 a day

    IR35 status: Inside

    Location: Glasgow - hybrid one day a week

    You will join a global IT consultancy who are delivering digital transformation to an enterprise scale end customer.

    As an Android Engineer you will be be building high quality mobile applications and you'll value writing clean, maintainable, and well tested code while thriving in a fast moving Agile environment.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    Developing and maintaining features across our Android applications
    Collaborating closely with cross functional teams to deliver high quality digital products
    Building intuitive, visually engaging, and user friendly mobile experiences
    Writing clean, scalable, maintainable, and testable Kotlin code
    Supporting development activities across the family of Digital platforms
    Driving continuous improvement across development processes, tooling, and customer experiences
    Identifying opportunities to enhance app performance, usability, and engineering practices

    Skills:

    Strong commercial experience with Kotlin and/or Java
    Experience using Android Studio
    Experience building Android applications using MVVM architecture
    Strong understanding of Jetpack Compose
    Familiarity with Android Jetpack libraries such as LiveData, Navigation Component/NavGraph, and local persistence solutions such as ObjectBox
    Experience working with Coroutines for asynchronous programming
    Comfortable integrating with RESTful APIs using tools such as Retrofit
    Familiarity with version control systems such as Git
    Experience with Gradle
    Understanding of the Google Play release process
    Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery teams
    Strong debugging and problem solving skills
