How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Principal / Associate Civil Engineer
    Billericay | £60,000 - £80,000 + Bonus + Benefits | Hybrid Working

I'm currently working with a well-established, multidisciplinary engineering consultancy who are looking to appoint a Principal / Associate Civil Engineer to support the continued growth of their Civil Engineering team in Billericay.

With a strong reputation across the South East and a healthy pipeline of secured work, the business delivers a diverse range of residential, commercial, industrial, education, healthcare and mixed-use developments for both private and public sector clients. Due to continued project wins, they're now looking for an experienced Civil Engineer who can combine technical expertise with project leadership and client management.

    The Role
Reporting directly to the Directors, you'll play a key role in leading the delivery of highways, drainage and development infrastructure projects while mentoring junior engineers and supporting the continued growth of the Civil Engineering team.
This is an excellent opportunity for either an established Principal Engineer or an experienced Senior Engineer looking to step into an Associate-level position with genuine autonomy and progression.

    Responsibilities

Lead the delivery of highways, drainage and development infrastructure projects from feasibility through to construction.
Produce and review technical designs, calculations, reports and specifications.
Lead and mentor Civil Engineers and Technicians within the team.
Manage project programmes, budgets and resources across multiple projects.
Liaise directly with clients, architects, local authorities and multidisciplinary design teams.
Oversee Section 38, Section 278, Section 104 and SuDS designs and approvals.
Attend client meetings and help develop long-term relationships.
Support fee proposals, project planning and business development activities.
Ensure projects are delivered to programme, budget and the highest technical standards.

    Requirements

    Degree qualified in Civil Engineering.
Chartered Engineer (ICE) or working towards Chartership.
Strong consultancy background delivering development infrastructure projects.
Extensive experience in highways and drainage design.
Proficient in Civil 3D together with InfoDrainage or MicroDrainage.
Good understanding of Section 38, Section 278, Section 104, SuDS and UK design standards.
Previous experience leading projects and mentoring junior engineers.
Strong communication skills with the confidence to build client relationships.

    What's on Offer

Competitive salary of £60,000 - £75,000 depending on experience.
    Annual bonus.
    Hybrid working.
    Pension and comprehensive benefits package.
Clear progression towards Associate Director level.
Opportunity to influence the growth of a successful Civil Engineering team.
Varied workload across residential, commercial, industrial and mixed-use developments.
Supportive, collaborative environment with genuine long-term career progression.
If you're looking for an opportunity where you can take ownership of projects, help shape a growing team and continue progressing your career within a well-respected consultancy, I'd be keen to tell you more
