How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Kenton Black are recruiting for a Senior Planner on a permanent basis in the Glasgow area.

    An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Planner to join a leading Tier 1 main contractor delivering a diverse portfolio of major construction projects across the Central Belt of Scotland. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the planning and successful delivery of predominantly education-sector developments, working closely with project teams from pre-construction through to completion to ensure programmes are developed, managed and delivered effectively.

    Key responsibilities will include leading the development and management of detailed project programmes, providing strategic planning support throughout the project lifecycle, identifying and mitigating programme risks, producing progress reports and programme updates for senior stakeholders and supporting operational teams with recovery planning where required. You will also work closely with pre-construction, commercial and site teams to ensure realistic and achievable programme objectives are established and maintained.

    The ideal candidate will have significant planning experience within the building construction sector and a proven track record of working on large-scale projects for main contractors. Previous Tier 1 contractor experience is highly desirable, along with strong knowledge of planning software such as Primavera P6 or Asta Powerproject. Candidates with predominantly civil engineering or infrastructure backgrounds will not be considered for this position.
