How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Freelance Site Manager – School Refurbishment Project (6-Week Summer Contract)

    We are looking for an experienced Freelance Site Manager to oversee a school refurbishment project during the summer holiday period.

    Contract Duration: 6 weeks (Summer Holidays)

    Start Date: July 2026 

    Location: Ashford, Kent

    Rate: £250- £260 per day 

    About the Role

    You will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a refurbishment project within a school during the summer holiday period. The successful candidate will ensure works are completed safely, on programme, and to a high standard, while coordinating subcontractors and maintaining excellent site records.

    Key Responsibilities

    Manage day-to-day site operations and subcontractors.

    Ensure full compliance with health and safety legislation and site procedures.

    Monitor programme, quality, and progress of works.

    Carry out site inductions, toolbox talks, and regular inspections.

    Liaise with the client, project team, and subcontractors.

    Maintain accurate site records, reports, and documentation.

    Ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

    Essential Requirements

    SMSTS qualification.

    CSCS Manager Card.

    Valid First Aid at Work certificate.

    Current Enhanced DBS certificate.

    Proven experience managing refurbishment projects.

    Strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills.

    Ability to manage subcontractors and work independently.

    Experience delivering refurbishment projects within schools or other educational settings is highly desirable.
