How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    DevOps Engineer

    Barclays | 6-Month Contract | Inside IR35
    📍 Location: Glasgow (preferred) | Manchester or Northampton also considered
    🏢 Working Pattern: Hybrid - 2 days per week in the office
    📅 Contract Length: 6 Months
    💷 Rate: Up to £640 per day (Inside IR35 via Umbrella)

    The Opportunity

    Barclays is looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join a high-performing technology team supporting the delivery of critical applications and infrastructure across the bank. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a large-scale enterprise environment, helping to drive automation, improve CI/CD processes, and support cloud-native engineering practices.
    You'll work closely with development, infrastructure, and security teams to build and maintain robust, scalable, and secure platforms that enable faster and more reliable software delivery.

    Key Responsibilities

    Design, implement, and support CI/CD pipelines
    Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management
    Support cloud-based and on-premise environments
    Drive DevOps best practices across development teams
    Monitor and maintain platform performance, availability, and security
    Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and deployment issues
    Collaborate with software engineers, architects, and stakeholders to improve delivery processes
    Contribute to infrastructure-as-code and automation initiatives

    Required Skills & Experience

    Strong commercial experience within a DevOps Engineering role
    Expertise with CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps or similar
    Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform
    Strong scripting skills using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar
    Experience with containerisation technologies including Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift
    Knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP
    Strong understanding of Linux and distributed systems
    Experience with monitoring and logging tools
    Familiarity with security and compliance best practices within enterprise environments

    Desirable

    Previous experience within Financial Services or a highly regulated environment
    Exposure to SRE principles and observability tooling
    Experience supporting large-scale, mission-critical applications
