How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Press Brake Setter & Operator (Days)

    Basingstoke, Hampshire
Competitive Salary - Negotiable Depending on Experience (DOE)

Join a leading UK manufacturing business

We're recruiting for an experienced Press Brake Setter & Operator to join a successful, family-owned engineering and manufacturing business with an outstanding reputation for quality and long-term stability.

Operating from three UK manufacturing facilities, the company is one of the UK's leading manufacturers of industrial refrigeration coils and bespoke fabricated enclosures, supplying customers across a wide range of industrial sectors. Continued investment in both people and manufacturing means this is an excellent opportunity to join a business that values skilled engineers and offers genuine long-term career prospects.

    The Role

Working within a busy fabrication department, you'll be responsible for setting, operating and occasionally programming CNC press brakes to manufacture precision sheet metal components to engineering drawings.

This is a varied role where you'll produce both batch and bespoke one-off work, working with mild steel, stainless steel and galvanised materials ranging from approximately 0.9mm mesh through to 5mm plate.

You'll be trusted to produce high-quality components while maintaining excellent accuracy and attention to detail.

    What You'll Be Doing

Setting and operating CNC press brakes
Carrying out some machine programming where required
Producing precision folded components from engineering drawings
Working on both production runs and bespoke fabrications
Processing a variety of materials including mild steel, stainless steel and galvanised steel
Carrying out quality checks to ensure components meet specification
Maintaining high standards of workmanship and housekeeping

    What We're Looking For

We're keen to speak with candidates who have:

Previous experience setting and operating CNC press brakes
The ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
    Experience within sheet metal fabrication
A strong eye for quality and accuracy
A positive attitude and willingness to learn
Experience using Amada or LVD press brakes would be advantageous but is not essential. Candidates with solid press brake experience gained on other CNC press brake machines are encouraged to apply, as full training will be provided on the company's operating systems.

    Why Join?

Permanent, full-time position with a well-established UK manufacturer
Long-term job security within a growing business
Varied work across both bespoke and production manufacturing
Opportunity to develop additional programming skills
Overtime available following successful completion of training and probation
Supportive team environment with ongoing training
    Modern manufacturing facilities and equipment

    Working Hours

    Monday to Thursday
    07:00 - 15:45

    30-minute unpaid lunch break.

Overtime available after successful completion of training and probation.

    Benefits

Competitive salary - Negotiable Depending on Experience (DOE)
25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays (pro rata in the first year)
    Overtime opportunities
Permanent employment with a stable, growing manufacturer
    Training and ongoing development
If you're an experienced Press Brake Setter & Operator looking for a secure, long-term opportunity where your skills will be recognised and valued, we'd be delighted to hear from you.

Please note: Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must have unrestricted right to work in the UK
