How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    SEND Outreach Tutor - Gateshead & Newcastle (In-Person)
    £27-£30 per hour | Flexible Hours | Immediate Start
    We are recruiting experienced SEND Outreach Tutors to provide one-to-one, in-person tuition across Gateshead and Newcastle for learners referred by local authorities and schools.
    You'll support children and young people who are out of education or require additional support due to SEND, SEMH needs or an EHCP. Tuition takes place in the learner's home or a suitable community venue, such as a library.
    Key Responsibilities

    Deliver tailored 1:1 tuition that meets each learner's individual needs.

    Adapt teaching methods to support learners with SEND, SEMH and other additional needs.

    Plan engaging lessons that promote academic progress and build confidence.

    Monitor progress and maintain accurate session records.

    Work professionally with families, schools and local authority teams.
    Requirements

    Experience teaching or tutoring learners with SEND and/or SEMH needs.

    An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service is essential.

    Strong behaviour management and the ability to build positive relationships.

    QTS is desirable but not essential for candidates with relevant tutoring or teaching experience.

    Ability to travel across Gateshead and Newcastle for in-person tuition.
