How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    GENERAL SUMMARY

    The Mechanical Fitter will be a member of the test team or assembly team where their role involves working on pumps for Original Equipment [OE] and Aftermarket (AM) orders. These roles will include all aspects of the pump testing cycle including installation, commissioning, testing and dismantling, or ll aspects of assembly from building to dismantling product working in all areas within assembly. Working efficiently to produce quality product and workmanship within timeframe applicable. Assisting with continuous improvement activities in the test areas to improve safety, workflow and drive down operational costs.




    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)


    Test Team

    • Installation of pumps for testing including their ancillary equipment where applicable. This involves setting out and securing temporary foundations, pipework installation and rotor alignment. Connecting services to support lubrication and cooling where required.
    • Participating in operational tests by controlling various aspects of the test parameters such as temperatures and pressures within acceptable limits.
    • Highlight any non-conformances which are identified through the appropriate channels and in a timely manner. Work with others to ensure that issues are resolved.
    • Breakdown temporary test arrangements and store equipment away as per departmental procedures.
    • Responsible for your own quality of work, self-inspection and completion of paperwork and applicable checklists are required.
    • Perform maintenance activities on test department equipment as required to ensure maximum reliability and availability of equipment.
    • Participate in continuous improvement activities to assist the company in its efforts to improve safety, drive down costs and increase productivity.
    • Work in other assembly areas when required.
    • Work with managers and other test department personnel to implement the company's policies and goals.
    • Ensure that health, safety and environmental guidelines are followed.
    • Provide on-going support and training to peers and apprentices as required.
    • Be available to undertake further training (internal & external) if required.


    Assembly Team

    • Assembly of new pumps for OE and aftermarket orders within laid down parameters, efficiently, in line with work instructions.
    • Dismantling and assembly of repair / service pumps for OE and aftermarket orders within laid down parameters, efficiently, in line with work instructions.
    • Working within assembly to ensure economic manufacturing to the correct quality standard.
    • Responsible for your own quality of work, self-inspection and completion of paperwork and applicable checklists are required.
    • Assist Operations Manager with problems that occur within the assembly department. Work with other departments to ensure that issues are resolve and documented in line with current procedures in a timely manner.
    • Assist in preparing/updating assembly documentation, programs, and tooling.
    • Participate in continuous improvement activities when required to assist the company in its efforts to drive down costs and increase productivity.
    • If required, be available to attend customer’s site to carry out service work on behalf of the company.
    • Work in other areas when required.
    • Work with managers to implement the company's policies and goals.
    • Ensure that health, safety and environmental guidelines are followed.
    • Provide on-going support and training to peers and apprentices within assembly as and where required.
    • Be available for further training if required.
    • If required, assist in the test area which include Hydro, performance, noise and vibration testing. Included will be setting up and stripping product off test, efficiently, in line with work instructions.




    EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    • Time served Mechanical Fitter with at least 3 years relevant experience preferably in a heavy manufacturing environment.
    • Should have a challenging attitude and safety mindset to manage risks within the test environment.
    • Experience with rotating equipment and laser alignment would be advantageous.
    • Have an understanding and experience of lean manufacturing techniques.
    • Demonstrable experience of working within a team to execute tasks in a timely manner to achieve goals under tight time-frames.
    • Team Player with high level of energy and commitment required for participating in and implementing change.
    • Strong communication skills; both written and verbally.
    • Must be able to undertake National Security Vetting and obtain security clearance up to SC level.


    You must have valid right to work in the UK and be able to obtain Security Clearance to apply for this role.
