How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Resident Engineer / Civil Site Engineer - National Grid Substation
    Location: Upper Boat 275kV Substation, South Wales
    Rate: £450 per day
    Contract: Temporary
    Start Date: 1st July 2026
    End Date: 23rd October 2026
    Hours: 45 Hours Per Week (07:30 - 17:30)

    Overview:
    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Resident Engineer / Civil Site Engineer to support the delivery of a major National Grid 275kV Substation project at Upper Boat.

    This role is ideal for an engineer with strong setting out experience, a solid understanding of National Grid technical standards, and previous experience working on live transmission infrastructure projects.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Carry out accurate setting out for line and level using a range of surveying equipment.
    Support the delivery of civil engineering works in accordance with National Grid Technical Specifications (NGTS).
    Act as Document Controller for all civil engineering drawings and documentation.
    Produce and maintain accurate As-Built drawings.
    Assist the civil site team with constructability reviews.
    Raise and manage Technical Queries (TQs).
    Assist the site team with obtaining supplier quotations and raising material orders.
    Ensure all works are delivered safely, accurately and in accordance with project specifications.
    Liaise with the client, site management and subcontractors throughout the project.Essential Requirements:

    Current National Grid Persons certification.
    Manual Handling.
    Previous experience working on National Grid substation projects.
    Proven setting out experience using surveying equipment.
    Good understanding of National Grid Technical Specifications (NGTS).
    Experience producing As-Built drawings.
    Ability to manage civil engineering drawings and technical documentation.
    Strong communication and organisational skills.Desirable

    Previous experience as a Resident Engineer or Civil Site Engineer on National Grid projects.
    Experience working on 275kV or 400kV transmission substations.
