How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    If you have an Instrumentation, Control Engineering troubleshooting, fault finding background, you'll fit into this team.
    Our clients are based in Kent, and have a massive infrastructure of electrical, power, safety systems, and systems monitoring every part of the process. Their Controls Engineering team is in charge of the maintenance and development of these assets, and they need to add to the team.
    Using your Control and Instrumentation experience, you will be assisting in the maintenance, fault finding, and upgrade of PC based monitoring systems, monitoring instrumentation, sensors (gas, fire, process instrumentation), industrial networks. Improving the system with various project work, and keeping the systems live, compliant, functioning and safe.
    Instrumentation and Control Engineering experience is the important bit. If you have worked on PLC DCS or SCADA based control systems, it would be a good background, but the company operates several bespoke systems, and training can be given on these.
    Rewards: Basic salary to £52000, plus 6% employer pension contribution, healthcare, company bonus, share scheme, 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays.
    Commutable from: Ashford, Canterbury, Dover, Folkestone
    Sponsorship: No. All candidates must have permanent right to work in the UK.
