How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Maths & English Tutor – Lewisham

    1:1 Tuition | KS2, KS3, GCSE & Functional Skills

    £25.00–£35.00 per hour PAYE + Paid Planning & Preparation Time

    Equivalent to approximately £30.00–£42.00 per hour

    Location: Lewisham and surrounding areas

    Hours: Flexible Part-Time & Full-Time Opportunities

    New Chapter Tuition is recruiting experienced Tutors and Qualified Teachers to deliver personalised 1:1 Maths and English tuition for children and young people aged 11–25 across Lewisham.

    Applicants must be confident delivering both English and Maths tuition as a minimum requirement. Experience supporting learners working towards KS2, KS3, GCSE and Functional Skills qualifications is essential.

    This rewarding role is ideal for qualified teachers and experienced tutors who are passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive educational outcomes.

    Many learners require additional support due to SEND, SEMH needs, Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, anxiety, school avoidance, EHCP-linked needs, medical needs, permanent exclusion, or alternative provision pathways.

    The Role

    As a Tutor, you will deliver engaging and personalised 1:1 tuition tailored to each learner's individual needs, abilities, and educational goals.

    You will:

    • Deliver high-quality English and Maths tuition on a 1:1 basis

    • Support learners working towards KS2, KS3, GCSE and Functional Skills qualifications

    • Adapt teaching strategies to suit individual learning needs and learning styles

    • Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage engagement, confidence, and independence

    • Support learners to overcome barriers to education and make measurable academic progress

    • Plan, prepare and evaluate engaging learning activities

    • Complete session reports and progress updates following each session

    • Work collaboratively with families, schools, Local Authorities, and other professionals

    What We're Looking For

    ✔ Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) and/or substantial tutoring experience

    ✔ Proven experience delivering both English and Maths tuition

    ✔ Experience supporting learners at KS2, KS3, GCSE and/or Functional Skills levels

    ✔ Experience supporting learners with SEND, SEMH, Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, or additional needs

    ✔ Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

    ✔ Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently

    ✔ Enhanced DBS (Update Service preferred) or willingness to obtain one

    ✔ Right to work in the UK
