How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Project Quantity Surveyor

    Location: Darlington

    Salary Package: Circa £35-45k/annum, Company Pension, 28-day Holidays, Annual Bonus

    Our Client is an independent consultancy based in the Northeast. With over eight years of experience supporting blue-chip clients such as Centrica, PX Group, Worley, United Living, Johnson Matthey, and WSP, we specialise in interim procurement and commercial support services. We represent clients in strategic supply chain and procurement activities across the UK and the Middle East.

    They focus on delivering interim strategic consultancy and project-based support, which includes:

    * Project Procurement Strategy

    * Major Project Procurement of Capital Equipment, Works Packages & Bulk Material requirement

    * Post Contract Commercial Management & QS Support

    * Feed & Estimating Support

    * Supply Chain Analysis

    * Strategic Programs & Category Framework Agreements

    Responsibilities:

    As a Project Quantity Surveyor your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    * Understanding and identifying the client's key strategic requirements

    * Developing project-specific contracting strategies and vendor engagement plans

    * Work with procurement team to assist in setting the pre-qualification process criteria.

    * Proven experience supporting engineering capital projects in sectors such as chemicals, oil & gas, energy, pharma, or civil engineering.

    * Ability to provide commercial and QS support to live projects, including experience in procuring major subcontract packages or works contract packages such as civil works, Mechanical & Electrical Installation, etc.

    * Post contract commercial management, managing live project costs, monitoring, variation management and payment of subcontract packages, monthly cost and End Life Forecasting and reporting, compilation and management of variations, contract negotiations, etc.

    * RICS qualification is desirable but not essential.

    * Good understanding of major project commercial strategies and best practice processes

    * Experience in negotiating and compiling contract T’s&C’s utilising NEC4, IChemE contract development

    This role offers hybrid working. The role holder is required to be office or site-based 3 days per week.

    Remuneration Package:

    Basic Salary: Circa £35-45,000 per annum (Reviewed annually)

    Holiday Entitlement: 20 days + 8 public holidays (28 days total)

    Continuous Professional Development (Fully Support CIPS and RICS qualifications if not already held)
