How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to join a high-profile infrastructure framework operating across key UK locations, with a focus on York and London. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, combining site, office, and remote flexibility.

This is a senior technical leadership position, acting as the Contracting Engineer Manager (CEM) and playing a pivotal role in the successful delivery of complex engineering works across a major multi-disciplinary programme.

You will be responsible for providing technical governance, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supporting the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of engineering solutions across the framework. The role requires strong leadership, stakeholder management, and the ability to oversee engineering assurance across multiple workstreams.

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Act as CEM across the framework, providing technical leadership and assurance

    * Oversee engineering design compliance and delivery standards

    * Support project teams with technical guidance and problem-solving

    * Ensure adherence to relevant rail/infrastructure standards and regulations

    * Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to maintain programme alignment

    * Drive continuous improvement across engineering processes

Locations: York or London (hybrid working available)
    Type: Permanent / Framework-based appointment
Sector: Major Infrastructure / Rail Engineering

    About You:

    * Proven experience in a senior engineering leadership role within infrastructure or rail

    * Strong understanding of engineering assurance and governance processes

    * Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

    * Ability to lead technical teams across complex, multi-site environments

    * Chartered Engineer status or equivalent desirable

This is an excellent opportunity to take a leading role in a significant infrastructure programme, contributing to the safe and successful delivery of nationally important engineering works.
