How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Here at Merton College, we are seeking a Lecturer to provide tutorial and pastoral care for a group or groups of learners with learning disabilities/difficulties and monitor work experience activities.

    You’ll act as a Course Leader and take responsibility for their study programme and take an active role in all aspects of student assessment and accreditation. You’ll take part in curriculum planning and product development as required and deliver and imbed Math’s and English to SEND to deliver the College’s strategic objectives.

    As our Lecturer, you’ll hold a teaching qualification, a relevant professional qualification and have experience of working with and understanding the needs of SEND. Able to work as part of a team, you’ll be aware of the current curriculum changes and the implications for SEND learning strategies and reforms. With knowledge and understanding of the changing agenda for SEND learners in further education and the implications that this has for delivery and promotion of learning, you’ll have experience of curriculum development to meet the changing demands of the Further Education Sector, with evidence of providing effective student support.

    As a qualified teacher, you’ll be able to manage students with challenging behaviour and demonstrate the ability to teach and to communicate at a level appropriate to the students and in a way that recognises their different learning abilities. You’ll have knowledge of the accreditation framework and assessment strategies in the post 16 sector, including RARPA and understand the application of information technology and assistive technology to teaching and learning strategies. Your experience will include working with external agencies and assessment and/or IV practices for a range of specialist accreditation.

    The successful candidate will be eligible for any increase in salary as a consequence of the annual cost of living review that will be implemented in the new academic year.
