How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Anderson Knight's Technical Division are delighted to be partnering a leading Scottish business with a uk Presence. Due to continued growth and increasing delivery demands within our Scotland Division, our client is seeking to appoint an experienced Planner to support the successful delivery of our clients fit out and refurbishment projects.
Planning is central to the successful delivery of their projects. This role plays a critical part in ensuring robust, achievable programmes are developed, progress is accurately monitored, and project risks, interfaces and change are clearly understood and managed.
Working closely with operational, commercial and site teams, the Planner will support the safe, high-quality and predictable delivery of projects across a range of live environments. The successful candidate will adopt a hands-on, delivery-focused approach, maintaining a strong on-site presence for a minimum of three days per week and collaborating closely with project teams throughout the lifecycle of works.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced construction professional with strong planning expertise and a thorough understanding of fit out, refurbishment and wider construction delivery.
    About You
You will be an experienced Planner with a minimum of five years' industry experience in a planning and/or operational management role, with demonstrable involvement in the successful delivery of fast-track fit out projects and wider construction or housing schemes.
Experience across both public and private sector contracts would be advantageous.
You will possess a structured and methodical approach to programme development and control, coupled with excellent communication skills and the confidence to engage effectively with site teams, subcontractors, clients and senior stakeholders.
Experience of working within live, occupied environments and managing programmes under time-critical conditions is essential.
Proficiency in Asta Powerproject (Version 13) is essential, whilst experience using Primavera P6 would be highly desirable.
    Key Responsibilities
As Planner, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining and controlling project programmes across live projects, ensuring plans remain aligned with delivery requirements and site realities.
    Responsibilities will include:
    • Developing and maintaining fully logic-linked construction programmes from tender stage through to project completion.
    • Breaking down project scope into clear tasks, activities, sequences and milestones aligned to the agreed construction methodology.
    • Working closely with Project Managers, Site Managers, Commercial Teams and Subcontractors to gather and validate planning information.
    • Monitoring site progress and updating programmes to accurately reflect actual performance and productivity.
    • Producing short-term look-ahead programmes (1-week, 2-week and 4-week) to support effective site delivery and coordination.
    • Identifying programme risks, delays, opportunities and constraints, and developing appropriate mitigation measures.
    • Analysing critical path activities and assessing the impact of change, variation, disruption or delay events.
    • Preparing clear and concise planning reports for internal management teams and external stakeholders.
    • Supporting resource and cost planning by aligning labour, plant and material requirements with programme demands.
    • Attending project meetings, progress reviews and site coordination meetings, providing planning insight to support decision-making.
    • Ensuring compliance with company planning standards, governance procedures and reporting requirements.
    • Supporting tender submissions through the development of robust and deliverable tender programmes where required.
    • Promoting collaborative planning practices across operational and project delivery teams.
    Skills & Experience Required
The successful candidate will be a disciplined, results-driven Planner with a proven ability to contribute to the successful delivery of profitable, high-quality construction projects.
You will be able to demonstrate:
    • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a planning, project management or operational delivery role within the construction industry.
    • A strong track record in project planning, including the development and management of programmes aligned to successful project delivery.
    • Advanced proficiency in Asta Powerproject.
    • Experience using Primavera P6 (desirable).
    • Sound understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing and trade interfaces, particularly within fit out and refurbishment environments.
    • Experience delivering projects typically ranging from £350k to £5m+, with larger project exposure advantageous.
    • Good working knowledge of tender documentation, specifications, procurement routes and construction contracts.
    • Familiarity with common forms of contract including JCT and NEC3/NEC4. Experience of Design & Build and PPC2000 contracts would be advantageous.
    • Strong understanding of programme management, critical path analysis and project controls.
    • Commercial awareness with an understanding of how programme performance impacts project costs, risk and profitability.
    • Experience in risk and opportunity management relating to programme development and control.
    • Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and challenge constructively.
    • A consistently high standard of Health & Safety awareness and commitment to safe project delivery.
If you are an experienced Planner looking to join a dynamic and growing team, and can bring strong programme management expertise alongside practical construction delivery knowledge, we would welcome your application
