How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

This is a long-term role due to start in September 2026 or sooner, with the potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.

    Position Details:

    Job Title: Behaviour Lead
    Location: Nelson, Lancashire
Start Date: September 2026 or sooner
Contract Type: Full-time, Temp to perm
    Salary: £168.80-£232.57 depending on experience

    About the Role:

This is a non-teaching position and will be full time, focused on leading the development of behaviour support across school. The Headteacher will act as the strategic lead and has a clear vision for how this newly created role will work across the school to improve consistency, remove barriers to learning, and promote positive behaviour.

The successful candidate will also line manage a Learning Mentor, with both roles working together to support pupils and ensure effective behaviour systems are embedded across school.

    The role will include:

    * Delivering key behaviour messages and training to teachers and Teaching Assistants

    * Working alongside teachers to develop targeted programmes of support for individual pupils

    * Monitoring behaviour systems and procedures across school and identifying next steps to improve consistency

    * Analysing behaviour data, including CPOMS records, and evaluating the impact of interventions and strategies

    * Writing and reviewing Behaviour Support Plans

    * Overseeing the implementation of the school’s behaviour curriculum

    * Responding to behaviour incidents using restorative and reflective approaches

    * Providing behaviour reports and updates for Governors

    * Playing an active role within the school’s Behaviour Support Group

    * Carrying out planned pupil check-ins and in-class visits to monitor progress and support

    * Developing rewards, incentives and positive reinforcement systems

    * Meeting with parents and carers, alongside class teachers, to review support plans and pupil progress

    * Supporting the school in working towards a Behaviour Quality Mark over time

The main focus of the role will be to address low-level but persistent behaviours that disrupt learning in class, supporting staff to embed clear expectations and consistent approaches across the school.

    The Ideal Candidate Will:

    * Be a qualified teacher or experienced school-based professional with a strong understanding of behaviour support in primary education

    * Have significant experience of working with children with behavioural, emotional or additional learning needs

    * Have experience of developing and implementing behaviour support strategies across a school or within a pastoral/leadership role

    * Be confident in coaching, guiding and delivering training to teaching and support staff

    * Have experience of writing behaviour support plans and monitoring the impact of interventions

    * Be confident in using restorative approaches and supporting pupils to regulate behaviour positively

    * Have strong communication skills and the confidence to liaise effectively with staff, pupils, parents and external professionals

    * Be organised, proactive and committed to driving consistency in behaviour systems across school

    * Be committed to the safeguarding and wellbeing of children and young people

    * Provide details of the last 2 references, covering the last 5 years’ work history

    * Possess a current DBS check or be prepared to apply for one as part of your registration

    * Be willing to complete a face-to-face registration and satisfy several checks
