How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A forward-thinking fire consultancy in Manchester is now seeking an experienced Senior Fire Engineer to join their growing fire engineering team. The successful Senior Fire Engineer will work across a strong pipeline of residential, commercial, education, healthcare and mixed-use developments throughout Manchester and the wider North West.

    The Senior Fire Engineer's Role

    The Senior Fire Engineer will produce detailed fire strategies, review architectural drawings and provide clear, practical fire safety advice from early design stages through to completion. The Senior Fire Engineer will support complex projects, attend design team meetings and liaise with architects, developers, contractors and approval bodies.

    The Senior Fire Engineer will also mentor junior fire engineers, review technical work and contribute to the continued development of the consultancy's regional fire engineering offering.

    The Senior Fire Engineer

    The Senior Fire Engineer will ideally have:

    A degree in fire engineering, building engineering or a relevant construction discipline
    Strong experience producing fire strategies
    Knowledge of Approved Document B, BS 9999 and relevant fire safety guidance
    Experience across residential, commercial or mixed-use projects
    Excellent report writing and client-facing skills
    IFE membership or working towards Chartership
