How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Job Title: Teaching Assistant (SEN Support)

    Location: Romford, Havering

    Pay: £475 - £525 per week

Are you a caring, patient and committed Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs? Do you want to make a meaningful difference by helping children feel safe, understood and able to access learning in a calm, supportive environment?

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work within a strong inclusion offer, supporting pupils who require additional help to thrive in school. This role is focused on SEN support and would be ideal for someone who enjoys working with children with a range of needs, including autism, developmental difficulties, physical disabilities, learning difficulties, medical needs, sensory impairments and social, emotional and communication needs. The school's SEND provision includes targeted support in small groups and 1:1, using strategies such as visual timetables, work stations, colourful semantics, sensory learning, Tacpac, Attention Autism and language groups.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils who may need help with regulation, communication, confidence, independence and engagement in learning. You will work closely with teachers, the SENDCo and other professionals to help children access learning in a way that meets their individual needs. The school's approach is inclusive and whole-school, with early intervention, regular assessment, transition support and strong partnerships with families and outside agencies.

    The Role

Support pupils with SEN on a 1:1 basis and in small groups

Help children access learning through adapted resources and tailored support

Assist with communication, emotional regulation and social interaction

Use strategies such as visual prompts, sensory activities and structured routines

Support pupils with autism, learning difficulties, developmental needs and sensory or physical needs

Encourage confidence, resilience, independence and positive behaviour

Work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and external professionals

Help with transitions, routines and participation in classroom and wider school life

Support pupils to feel calm, safe and ready to learn

Monitor progress and provide feedback on pupil engagement and development

Promote inclusion, safeguarding and pupil wellbeing at all times

    Benefits

    Competitive weekly pay of £475 - £525

A rewarding role where you can make a real difference every day

Supportive inclusion team and experienced staff

Opportunity to develop your SEN knowledge and skills

    Ongoing training and professional development

A school culture that values inclusion, respect and pupil wellbeing

Experience working with a wide range of additional needs

The chance to support children through key stages of their development

Collaborative working with teachers, families and professionals

Opportunity for long-term and permanent opportunities

You will be joining a school that places inclusion, wellbeing and personal development at the heart of its work. Staff create a calm, caring and respectful environment where children are encouraged to express themselves, build positive relationships and develop the confidence to succeed. The wider ethos promotes kindness, responsibility, honesty and respect, alongside a strong focus on helping pupils become caring members of the community.

This role would suit someone who is compassionate, adaptable and proactive, with a genuine commitment to supporting children with SEN to achieve their potential. If you are passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and succeed in a nurturing environment, we would love to hear from you.
