How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are looking for compassionate, resilient and enthusiastic Residential Support Workers to join a therapeutic residential childcare team supporting children and young people.

    This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference by providing a safe, nurturing and structured environment where children can build confidence, develop life skills and achieve positive outcomes.

    Shift Patterns:

    * 7:30am – 10:30pm (including sleep-in shifts)

    * 7:30am – 3:00pm

    * 3:00pm – 10:30pm

    * Typically 3–4 shifts per week

    About the Young People

    You will be supporting children and young people aged 6–16 years who may have experienced trauma and present with a range of emotional, behavioural and additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD.

    The young people benefit from consistent routines, positive role models and therapeutic support to help them develop emotionally, socially and academically.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Build positive, trusting relationships with children and young people.

    * Provide one-to-one support throughout the school day where required, encouraging engagement with learning and offering guidance during lessons.

    * Support daily routines, including morning and evening routines, mealtimes and homework.

    * Assist with household tasks such as meal preparation, laundry and maintaining a safe, welcoming home environment.

    * Transport young people to and from school and appointments where required.

    * Follow individual care plans, behaviour support plans and risk assessments.

    * Promote positive behaviour using calm, patient and trauma-informed approaches.

    * Encourage independence, confidence and emotional wellbeing.

    * Complete accurate daily records and care documentation.

    * Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times.

    Requirements

    * Full UK manual driving licence is essential.

    * Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).

    * Experience working with children or young people is desirable, including backgrounds in: Residential childcare, Special Educational Needs (SEN), Youth work, Prison or secure settings, Education or similar support roles

    * Calm, caring and emotionally resilient approach.

    * Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

    * Passionate about helping children and young people achieve positive outcomes.
