How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    SEMH Learning & Behaviour Mentor

    Location: Chippenham
    Salary: £110 - £130 per day
    Start Date: September 2026

    About the Role

    Connex Education is currently recruiting for a dedicated and resilient SEMH Learning & Behaviour Mentor to support pupils within a specialist educational setting in the Chippenham area.

    This rewarding opportunity involves working closely with children and young people who may present with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, behavioural challenges, trauma-related needs, or additional learning difficulties. The role will involve providing both classroom-based support and targeted interventions to help pupils engage positively with their education and personal development.

    We are looking for individuals who are passionate about making a genuine difference and who can build strong, positive relationships with pupils in a nurturing and supportive environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
    Support students both inside and outside of the classroom to encourage engagement and positive learning behaviours
    Build trusted relationships that promote confidence, emotional regulation, and resilience
    Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and external professionals
    Support the implementation of behaviour strategies and individual support plans
    Encourage a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
    Monitor and record student progress, behaviour, and wellbeing

    What We’re Looking For

    Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, behavioural, or pastoral needs
    Calm, patient and resilient approach to supporting challenging behaviour
    Strong communication and relationship-building skills
    Ability to adapt to the needs of individual pupils and classroom settings
    Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
    Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one through Connex Education
    Right to work in the UK
