How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Company

    Our client is a well-established manufacturing business based in Wakefield and is currently looking to recruit a Mechanically Biased Maintenance Engineer to join their engineering team on a permanent basis.

    This is a varied and hands-on role that combines traditional maintenance engineering with workshop-based engineering activities, fabrication work and machinery projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining factory equipment while also supporting machinery modifications, installations and future engineering projects across the site.

    The Role

    The primary focus of the role is maintenance engineering across the factory, carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance on production equipment.

    In addition, the successful candidate will be comfortable working within a workshop environment, using machine shop equipment and fabrication skills to manufacture, modify and repair components when required. The role will also involve supporting machinery installations, upgrades and engineering improvement projects.

    Key Responsibilities

    Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across factory equipment
    Respond to reactive breakdowns and minimise downtime
    Diagnose and repair mechanical faults efficiently
    Maintain and repair mechanical systems including:
    Gearboxes
    Bearings
    Shafts
    Drive systems
    Hydraulic systems
    Pneumatic systems
    Conduct basic electrical fault finding where required
    Support machinery installations, upgrades and engineering projects
    Assist with machine builds and equipment modifications
    Use workshop machinery and machine shop tools to manufacture, modify and repair components
    Carry out fabrication work to support maintenance and project activities
    Complete maintenance documentation and records
    Ensure all work is completed in accordance with health and safety proceduresEssential Requirements

    āœ” Mechanically biased Maintenance Engineer background

    āœ” Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills

    āœ” Experience within manufacturing, engineering or workshop environments

    āœ” Experience using workshop machinery and machine shop equipment such as lathes

    āœ” Ability to manufacture, modify and repair components

    āœ” Fabrication experience or a strong practical engineering background

    āœ” Ability to work independently and as part of a small engineering team

    āœ” Good understanding of health and safety procedures

    āœ” Apprentice trained or time-served engineer preferred

    Desirable Experience

    āž• Electrical qualifications or electrical maintenance experience

    āž• Basic electrical fault finding on motors, drives, sensors and control panels

    āž• Welding and fabrication experience

    āž• Experience supporting machinery installations and build projects

    āž• Experience manufacturing replacement parts and components
