How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a specialist engineering business designing and manufacturing bespoke high-pressure testing systems, pressure vessels and pressure control equipment. This role will be responsible for developing innovative mechanical designs, producing large assembly models and supporting projects from concept through to manufacture within a technically challenging engineering environment.

This position would suit a Mechanical Design Engineer with experience in pressure vessel design, special purpose machinery or high-pressure systems who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges. It will appeal to someone who is confident working directly with customers, collaborating across multiple departments and taking ownership of engineering solutions from initial design through to delivery.

    Key Responsibilities
    * Design bespoke pressure vessels, pressure testing equipment and associated mechanical systems using SolidWorks
    * Produce detailed 2D and 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings and technical documentation
    * Perform engineering calculations and ensure designs comply with PED/PESR requirements and recognised pressure vessel standards
    * Liaise with customers, sales, procurement and manufacturing teams throughout the project lifecycle
    * Support design reviews, technical problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives across engineering projects

Applicants should have strong experience using SolidWorks and a good understanding of pressure vessel design standards such as PD5500, EN13445 or ASME Section VIII. Experience with FEA and ANSYS would be highly advantageous.

In return you'll receive a salary up to £55k, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, up to 10% annual bonus based on company performance and a 37.5-hour working week with an early finish on Fridays.

So if you're looking for a new role designing bespoke engineering solutions for customers across the nuclear, subsea, oil & gas, pharmaceutical and research sectors, get in touch today with Mark Dorey on (url removed), or call on (phone number removed)
