How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.

    Job description

    CLASS 2 DRIVER / FLT OPERATIVE 

    REPORTING TO:Warehouse & Logistics Manager

    HOURS OF WORK:

    7.45am – 4.30pm Monday – Friday 

    Overtime is expected to be fulfilled as and when required / available, this will involve early starts and late finishes

    Social working hours no overnight stays

    LOCATION:

    Daventry, Northants NN11 

    WAGES & BENEFITS:

    £14.77 per hour / £17.90 per hour when driving Class 2

    HOLIDAYS:

    23 days holiday plus statutory holidays

    Annual leave will increase by 1 day following the completion of each additional 5 years of continuous service to a maximum of 25 days annual leave.

    PURPOSE OF ROLE:

    This is a varied role that combines driving responsibilities with warehouse FLT duties. The role plays an important part in ensuring our customers receive excellent service through the safe and efficient delivery and collection of new and recycled packaging products.

    When not undertaking deliveries and collections, the role supports warehouse operations, loading and unloading vehicles, quality inspections, and general site maintenance, helping to ensure our facilities operate safely and efficiently.

    Please note this is not a full time Class 2 role they are a family run and owned business.  It is not, shift work, long unsociable hours with no team contact.  It is a hands-on varied role.  It is not a typical role, wait to be loaded and arrive at site to sit in cab and wait to be unloaded.  Their drivers have good rapports with the customers as well as with their warehouse teams.  Their customer base is wide ranging, small to very large, one day can be one or two drops during one run, or multiple drops with returns back to the warehouse to be reloaded and out again so please take this into consideration when applying.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Driving & Logistic:

    Complete local and national deliveries and collections in line with daily schedules.

    Warehouse Support:

    Assist with the unloading, grading and processing of returned containers.

    Load vehicles safely to minimise transportation damage and maximise efficiency.

    FLT operation to support the movement in stock arrives and dispatch. 

    Movement of LGV vehicles around the site and between sites.

    Quality Control:

    Inspect containers for damage, contamination or defects.

    Identify and report quality concerns to management.

    Support the maintenance of high quality standards across all warehouse operations.

    SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

    Essential

    Full UK Driving Licence

    Class 2 (Category C) Licence

    Class 1 would be very beneficial

    Driver CPC Qualification

    Digital Tachograph Card

    Maximum of 6 penalty points

    Good understanding of health and safety requirements

    Knowledge of the UK road network

    Good attention to detail

    Ability to follow procedures and work instructions

    Basic mechanical awareness

    Good level of physical fitness

    Customer-focused approach

    Desirable 

    Previous experience within logistics, transport or warehouse operations.

    Forklift Truck experience (training can be provided if required).

    Experience working within a recycling, manufacturing or industrial environment.

    Check all returned containers to ensure they meet acceptance criteria.

    Plan routes effectively to maximise efficiency and customer service.

    Communicate any delivery, collection, vehicle or customer issues promptly to the Operations Manager.

    Act as a professional ambassador for the company when interacting with customers.
