We are a well-established and growing transport operation based in the West Midlands, operating a modern fleet of 8-wheeler tipper trucks and rigid HGVs. We carry aggregates, soil, construction materials and bulk loads for a wide range of commercial and construction customers across the region. We hold a standard national operator licence and take compliance, safety and professionalism extremely seriously. We are looking for experienced, reliable and safety-conscious HGV Class 2 tipper drivers to join our team on a permanent basis.
The Role
As an HGV Class 2 Tipper Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of an 8-wheeler tipper truck, delivering and tipping bulk loads at a variety of commercial, construction and quarry sites across the West Midlands and surrounding areas. You will be an ambassador for the business at every customer site and will be expected to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, safety and compliance at all times.
Key Responsibilities
* Operating an 8-wheeler tipper truck safely and in full compliance with all road traffic legislation and the conditions of the operator licence
* Completing a thorough walkaround check before every journey and submitting an accurate defect report (whether defects are found or not) in accordance with the company's defect reporting policy
* Carrying out safe tipping operations at customer sites, ensuring the tipper body is fully lowered and secured before moving the vehicle after every tip
* Ensuring all loads are properly secured and sheeted where required before leaving any loading site, in compliance with load security legislation and company policy
* Adhering to EU drivers' hours rules and using the digital tachograph correctly at all times, including correct card use, manual entries and rest requirements
* Maintaining the cleanliness and condition of your allocated vehicle, reporting any damage, mechanical concerns or safety issues to the Transport Manager without delay
* Operating within site rules at all customer and supplier locations, including quarries and construction sites, and representing the company professionally at all times
* Complying with weight restrictions and not accepting loads that would cause the vehicle to exceed its plated weight or axle limits
* Working flexibly to meet the demands of the business, which may include early starts, varying shift patterns and occasional weekend work
* Assisting the Transport Manager with any reasonable requests relating to vehicle or fleet management
Requirements
* Valid Category C driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points (DD, DR or IN endorsements will not be considered)
* Valid Driver CPC qualification card (DQC) — must be current at the time of application
* Minimum 2 years' proven experience driving HGV Class 2 tipper vehicles in a commercial environment
* Sound knowledge and understanding of EU drivers' hours rules and digital tachograph operation
* Experience of working on construction, quarry or aggregate sites is highly desirable
* MPQC (Mineral Products Qualifications Council) card is preferred — candidates holding a valid MPQC card will be given priority consideration
* Strong commitment to road safety, vehicle roadworthiness and compliance with all legislation
* Professional attitude, good timekeeping and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
* Right to work in the United Kingdom
What We Offer
* Competitive salary — discussed at interview based on experience
* Permanent, full-time position with a stable and growing company
* Modern, well-maintained fleet — we invest in our vehicles and our drivers
* Regular routes with consistent work — no agency uncertainty
* Company-funded CPC periodic training to keep your qualification current
* Supportive management team with a genuine open-door policy
* Compliance-focused operation — we do things properly and protect our drivers
* Opportunity to progress within the business as we continue to grow
Important — Compliance Standards
We operate under a standard national operator licence and are fully committed to DVSA standards and the requirements of the Traffic Commissioner. All drivers must comply with our full suite of compliance policies from day one, including defect reporting, load security, tachograph use and walkaround checks. Licence and DQC checks are carried out before employment commences and at regular intervals thereafter. We take road safety seriously — if you do too, you will fit right in.
