Sleaford - 4 on 4 off days/nights
Permanent Role
Some sites quietly make food. This one does that at scale, supported by a network of plant and services that have to work every single day, whether anyone notices them or not.
We're supporting a large UK food manufacturing business operating a high-output production site in Lincolnshire. They are looking to appoint a Site Services Engineer to support the infrastructure that keeps the factory running, from utilities through to environmental and building services.
The Role
You will be responsible for maintaining and improving site services and utilities that underpin production performance.
Key responsibilities include:
Operation and maintenance of site utilities including steam boilers, refrigeration systems, water systems and effluent treatment
Working with mechanical drive systems, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical systems
Planned preventative maintenance across site services equipment
Pipefitting and general mechanical maintenance tasks
Supporting emergency light testing and portable appliance testing
Maintaining general site fabric and supporting repairs and improvements
Working with production and engineering teams to support start-up performance and reduce downtime
Supporting environmental compliance and monitoring systems to minimise site impact
Working with commissioning engineers and site teams on new equipment and installations
Applying lean thinking to improve efficiency and support factory performance targets
What You Will Need
NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical)
Apprentice trained background strongly preferred
Experience in site services, utilities or industrial maintenance
Knowledge of boilers, refrigeration, water systems or effluent systems
Understanding of hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical systems
Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
Comfortable working in a pressurised manufacturing environment
Why This Role
This is a role for someone who understands that production does not run without infrastructure.
It offers:
Responsibility for core utilities that directly support factory output
Exposure to a wide range of engineering systems beyond production equipment
A structured maintenance environment with real operational impact
Opportunity to develop into more senior engineering or utilities roles
A stable, long-term position within a large manufacturing operation
About the Business
A major UK food manufacturer operating within a wider European group, supplying branded and own-label products to leading retail and foodservice customers.
The organisation operates at significant scale with ongoing investment in engineering capability, infrastructure and production efficiency across its network.
