How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Avove Early Careers – Be The Future!

Being a trainee at Avove isn’t just a job, it’s the beginning of a rewarding career. We’re building a bright and ambitious future, and we want you to be part of it. Join our thriving early careers community and take your next step toward shaping the future of our business.

    About our programme

We’re here to help you grow. As a trainee, you’ll learn from experienced colleagues and take part in training designed just for your role. You’ll join a supportive early careers community, have the chance to become a STEM ambassador, and use your digital skills to help us inspire other young people through social media. We want you to enjoy what you do, learn quickly, aim high, and get hands-on experience—so keep reading and apply today!

    About the trainee role…

As part of our team, you’ll work on a variety of developer services projects across the UK, supporting the delivery of wastewater and water network infrastructure. You will play a key role in delivering great service to our client and customers.

You’ll learn from the amazing people in our team, learning all aspects of the role and then applying your knowledge to ensure compliance with all relevant technical standards. You will work 40 hours per week, and the role is based in Telford.

This role is a September 2026 start.

What your day could look like…

Learning about site operations and working with site managers, contractors and customers.

Learning to isolate the network for online work.

Developing knowledge and skills on flushing and sampling of the mains to make sure water is good to drink.

Understanding how to set and adjust pressure management valves.

Learning to complete rezones using a blow off tool.

Learning to pressure test on newly laid mains.

Understanding chlorination and de-chlorination of new water mains to make sure it meets water authority standards.

Learning to support and deliver as-laid drawings for completed works to be uploaded in our clients’ systems.

Building experience in health and safety.

Learning to undertake risk assessments, surveying and documentation.

    About you…

GCSEs like English and maths are helpful, but not essential, as we focus on attitude and potential.

This role is entry level, ideal for a school leaver and would be a great fit if you’re confident using digital tools like Microsoft Office and enjoy working with others. We’re looking for someone who communicates clearly, stays organised, and pays attention to detail. You’ll need to be comfortable working in a team and able to take initiative when working independently. If you’re motivated, eager to learn, and interested in developing leadership skills, we’d love to hear from you!

Due to the nature of this role having a driving license is recommended.

    What’s in it for you…

We offer a competitive salary and a wide range of flexible benefits to support your wellbeing and lifestyle:

24 days holiday plus bank holidays

    Company pension scheme

    Life assurance

Private GP helpline & health cash plan

    Avove discount scheme

    Family-friendly policies

    Lifestyle benefit options

    Financial wellbeing programme

Employee assistance programme and mental health first aiders

Volunteering days and charity matched giving
