How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Our Environment Business provides ‘source to sea’ asset delivery capability across the UK and Scotland, delivering both framework and standalone projects. Since AMP3 we have delivered more than £2bn of assets for clients including Yorkshire Water, United Utilities, Anglian Water, Thames Water, Southern Water, Welsh Water and Scottish Water.

As an established player in the market, this is a great opportunity to join the team at a time of transformation as we shape ourselves to be fit for delivery in a future digital world.

    The Role

As Environmental Advisor, you will support the Framework Head of HS&E across all environmental matters, helping to implement our environmental strategy and management systems to ensure our projects meet the highest environmental standards.

You will work closely with operational teams, supply chain partners and key stakeholders to promote a strong environmental culture, drive compliance, and support continual improvement across our projects.

This is a varied role that will see you provide specialist advice throughout the project lifecycle, from planning through to delivery and completion.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Support the implementation of the HS&E strategy, helping to drive environmental performance improvement across the business.

    * Promote a positive HS&E culture aligned with Challenging Beliefs and Affecting Behaviours programme.

    * Represent the HS&E function in meetings, workshops and forums, promoting best practice and environmental initiatives.

    * Implement the Environmental Management System, ensuring alignment with both company and client requirements.

    * Provide technical environmental guidance to operational teams throughout project planning and delivery.

    * Engage with key stakeholders including clients, regulators, supply chain partners and internal teams.

    * Monitor environmental KPIs and use performance data to drive continual improvement.

    * Support the identification and mitigation of environmental risks across projects.

    * Escalate environmental concerns where appropriate to the Framework HS&E Manager and operational teams.

    * Promote collaboration across project teams on environmental matters affecting delivery.

    Key Outputs

    * Review project documentation including high-risk method statements and risk assessments.

    * Conduct environmental inspections and audits, including ISO 14001 compliance audits.

    * Record findings within company systems and provide recommendations to management teams.

    * Support supply chain onboarding and environmental performance monitoring.

    * Deliver environmental training, awareness sessions and best practice guidance to operational teams and clients.

    * Investigate environmental incidents and non-conformities, producing reports and improvement actions.

    * Support incident investigations, root cause analysis and close-out through M2i system.

    * Produce monthly environmental performance reports and present findings to relevant boards.

    About You

You will be a proactive environmental professional who enjoys working collaboratively with project teams to improve performance and ensure high environmental standards.

    Key Skills & Experience

    * Experience in environmental or HS&E roles within construction, infrastructure, or similar regulated industries.

    * Knowledge of environmental management systems, environmental risks and relevant legislation.

    * Experience supporting environmental management throughout the project lifecycle.

    * Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

    * Analytical mindset with the ability to identify risks and implement practical solutions.

    * Confident working within dynamic project environments.

    * Strong organisational and reporting skills.

    * Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

    Qualifications

    Essential

    * Relevant HS&E or environmental experience in a similar industry.

    * NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate (or working towards).

    * Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to projects.
