How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Bookkeeper

    Location: Worcester (office-based with occasional travel to client premises)

    Full-time, Permanent

    Salary: Competitive

    About the Role

    We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Bookkeeper to join a busy and supportive professional services team for an very well established accountancy firm in Worcester. This role involves managing a varied portfolio of clients, supporting them with bookkeeping, VAT, CIS, and payroll.

    The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in Sage, confident working directly with clients, and capable of managing their own workload efficiently. Experience with other bookkeeping software is desirable but not essential.

    This is a full-time, permanent position offering excellent opportunities to develop your skills, grow within the business, and be part of a friendly, collaborative team.

    Key Responsibilities

    Manage bookkeeping services for a diverse range of clients.
    Maintain accurate financial records and ensure transactions are correctly processed.
    Prepare and submit VAT and CIS returns in line with deadlines.
    Process payroll using Sage Payroll.
    Assist clients with bookkeeping queries and software-related support.
    Reconcile bank accounts, control accounts, and balance sheet items.
    Ensure all work is completed accurately and on time.
    Liaise professionally with clients and colleagues to resolve issues.
    Support with ad-hoc administrative and finance-related tasks as required.
    Essential Skills and Experience

    Proven experience in a bookkeeping role.
    Highly proficient in Sage, including Sage Payroll.
    Strong knowledge of VAT and CIS processes.
    Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
    Strong organisational and time-management skills.
    Ability to work independently and prioritise workload effectively.
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
    Ability to meet deadlines consistently.
    Desirable Skills and Experience

    Experience using Xero, QuickBooks, or FreeAgent.
    Experience supporting multiple clients simultaneously.
    Knowledge of cloud-based accounting systems.
    Previous experience in a client-facing role.
