How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Trowbridge

    Salary: Unqualified Lecturer: £17,814 per year, pro rata of the FTE £29,294 per year Qualified Lecturer: £19,390 - £24,819 per year, pro rata of the FTE £31,885 - £40,814 per year (Depending on Skills, Qualified)

    What You’ll Do

    • Teach and assess learners across a range of Counselling programmes, supporting learners studying introductory through to Level 3/4 qualifications (where applicable)
    • Deliver engaging, inclusive, and industry-relevant lessons that develop counselling theory, communication, active listening, self-reflection, ethical practice, and professional boundaries
    • Support learners to achieve qualifications and progress into employment, higher education, or careers in counselling, mental health, social care, wellbeing, or community support services
    • Use creative and learner-centred teaching approaches, including discussion, reflective practice, case studies, role play, and skills-based activities to bring learning to life
    • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, professionalism, confidentiality, learner wellbeing, and ethical practice
    • Track learner progress and provide constructive feedback to support achievement, confidence, and personal development
    • Contribute to curriculum development and help create an inspiring, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

    What You’ll Bring

    • A qualified Counsellor, with a relevant qualification in counselling, psychotherapy or mental health and a minimum of 6 months post-qualifying practice experience.

    • A supervision qualification is desirable but not essential.
    • Strong subject knowledge and the ability to inspire learners through engaging, supportive, and reflective teaching
    • Industry experience within Counselling, Mental Health Support, Therapeutic Services, Community Wellbeing, Social Care, or a related field, or experience supporting learners in education or training
    • A commitment to inclusive teaching, learner wellbeing, and student success
    • A Level 4 teaching qualification or above is welcomed — but if you don’t have one yet, we’ll support you to achieve it while you work
