How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Summary

    We are now seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding team across the United Kingdom, taking responsibility for commercial management of major infrastructure projects across our renewable energy, highways, and marine portfolio.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Lead commercial management of multiple high-value civil engineering projects simultaneously

    * Manage contract administration, including variations, claims, and final accounts

    * Produce detailed cost and cash flow forecasts

    * Negotiate and manage subcontractor agreements

    * Monitor project costs and value engineering opportunities

    * Provide commercial advice to project teams and senior management

    * Lead procurement activities and supplier engagement

    * Mentor junior quantity surveyors and commercial team members

    Essential Requirements

    * Proven commercial management experience in projects exceeding £10M

    * Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline

    * Significant heavy civil engineering project exposure to renewable energy infrastructure, highways, or marine construction

    * Thorough working knowledge of NEC3/4 and FIDIC contract forms

    * Ability to carry out detailed re-measurements in accordance with standard methods. E.g. CESSM4, NRM2 etc.

    * Proven track record in analysing, preparing and managing delay and disruption submissions, including detailed cost analysis and assessment of time-related costs

    * Demonstrable experience in analysing construction programmes, critical path analysis, and delay assessment

    * Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills

    * Valid UK driving licence

    * Ideal candidate will have a willingness to travel to sites across Scotland, England and Wales for short periods at a time, where necessary.

    Desirable Experience

    * MInstCES, MRICS or MCIArb qualified or equivalent professional qualification

    * Understanding of heavy civils construction techniques

    * Knowledge of Scottish civil engineering sector
