How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Project Engineer (Electrical)

    Location: Severn Trent Region (with occasional work across the Thames Valley)

    Salary: Up to £60,000 DOE + Car/Allowance + Benefits

    The Opportunity

    J3A Recruitment are proud to be partnering with a rapidly growing Civil Engineering and MEICA contractor delivering major infrastructure projects across the UK water sector.

    Due to continued growth and a strong AMP8 workload, our client is looking to appoint an Electrical Project Engineer to support the delivery of projects primarily across the Severn Trent Water framework, with opportunities to work on schemes within the Thames Water region when required.

    This is an excellent opportunity to join an ambitious business that is evolving from a successful civil engineering contractor into a full-service MEICA delivery partner, undertaking projects ranging from minor improvement works through to multi-million-pound capital investment schemes.

    Working closely with Project Managers, Site Teams, Designers, Commissioning Engineers and Supply Chain Partners, you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring electrical and ICA packages are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Support the successful delivery of electrical and ICA elements across a portfolio of water and wastewater projects.

    * Manage projects from design review through to installation, testing, commissioning and final handover.

    * Coordinate electrical and instrumentation activities with civil and mechanical disciplines.

    * Review electrical designs, technical specifications and procurement packages.

    * Liaise with clients, subcontractors, designers and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle.

    * Support procurement and management of electrical equipment, panels, MCCs, instrumentation and associated plant.

    * Monitor programme performance, project costs and quality standards.

    * Assist site teams with installation planning, technical queries and problem solving.

    * Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, regulations and client specifications.

    * Carry out inspections, audits and quality checks to ensure a right-first-time approach.

    * Support commissioning activities and witness testing where required.

    * Contribute towards project reporting, progress meetings and commercial reviews.

    About You

    We're keen to speak with individuals who have experience delivering electrical projects within the water, utilities, industrial, manufacturing, process or infrastructure sectors.

    You will ideally possess:

    * Previous experience working as an Electrical Project Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Electrical Supervisor or similar project-focused role.

    * NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent electrical qualification.

    * 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing or equivalent.

    * Strong understanding of electrical installations, power distribution, control systems and industrial electrical equipment.

    * Experience working within water and wastewater environments would be highly advantageous.

    * Exposure to Instrumentation, Control & Automation (ICA) systems would be highly desirable.

    * Knowledge of MCCs, PLC-controlled systems, telemetry and process control equipment would be beneficial.

    * Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical documentation.

    * Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

    * Commercial awareness and an understanding of project delivery requirements.

    * CSCS Card & SMSTS or SSSTS qualification (preferred).

    What's On Offer?

    * Salary up to £60,000 DOE

    * Company Car or Car Allowance

    * 25 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays

    * Ongoing Training & Development

    * Exposure to Major AMP8 Framework Projects

    * Long-Term Career Progression Opportunities

    * Opportunity to join a growing business at an exciting stage of its journey

    Why Join?

    This isn't just another Project Engineer position.

    It's an opportunity to join a business that has built an excellent reputation within the civil engineering sector and is now expanding its MEICA capabilities to meet growing client demand across AMP8.

    You'll have the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects, develop your skills across electrical and ICA disciplines, and play a key role in shaping the future growth of the business.

    If you're looking for a role where your ideas are valued, your development is supported and your contribution genuinely makes a difference, we'd love to hear from you
