How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Quality Inspector / CMM

    Location: Coventry, West Midlands

    Working Hours:

    Monday – Tuesday: 7:30 am – 5:00 pm
    Wednesday – Thursday: 7:30 am – 4:30 pm
    Friday: 7:30 am – 12:30 pm
    1 in 4 Fridays: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

    Role Overview

    The Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that products meet defined quality standards and engineering specifications through accurate inspection, measurement, and documentation processes. The role involves conducting dimensional inspections using conventional measuring equipment and CMM technology, supporting supplier and production quality activities, and working closely with Engineering, Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA), and Quality Engineering teams to maintain product conformity.

    The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical inspection, be able to interpret engineering drawings, and possess experience operating and programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), preferably using PC-DMIS and/or Zeiss Calypso software.

    Key Responsibilities

    Conduct first-off, in-process, and final inspections of components and assemblies to ensure compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
    Operate and program Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to support inspection activities and generate accurate dimensional reports.
    Perform general inspection activities as detailed within Product Inspection Requests (PIRs).
    Verify supplier Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIRs), including dimensional, material, and process requirements.
    Review and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T requirements, and technical specifications.
    Produce inspection reports, FAIRs, ISIRs, and other quality documentation as required.
    Use a range of precision measuring equipment including verniers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, shadowgraphs, and other inspection tools.
    Support investigations into non-conforming products and assist with root cause analysis activities.
    Liaise with Engineering regarding drawing queries, dimensional concerns, and product quality issues.
    Work closely with Supplier Quality Assurance (SQA) to resolve supplier-related quality concerns.
    Support Quality Engineers with product validation, problem-solving, and continuous improvement activities.
    Assist in maintaining calibration awareness and ensuring inspection equipment is fit for purpose.
    Ensure all inspection records and quality documentation are completed accurately and maintained in accordance with company procedures.
    Maintain high standards of housekeeping and workplace organisation.
    Support other departments and business functions with quality and measurement-related activities as required.
    Undertake any additional duties appropriate to the role as requested by management.

    Person Specification

    Essential

    Previous experience working within a Quality Inspection or Manufacturing Inspection environment.
    Experience operating and programming CMM equipment.
    Knowledge of PC-DMIS and/or Zeiss Calypso software.
    Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and geometric tolerancing (GD&T).
    Competent in the use of conventional inspection and measurement equipment.
    Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
    Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally.

    Desirable

    Experience within precision engineering, motorsport, automotive, aerospace, or high-performance manufacturing environments.
    Knowledge of First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIRs).
    Experience using 3D scanning equipment and surface finish measurement systems.
    Understanding of quality management systems and continuous improvement methodologies.
