How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Shape the Commercial Strategy of Major Energy Infrastructure Projects

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Commercial Lead to join a leading engineering contractor delivering complex power, renewable energy, and critical infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland.

This is a senior leadership position offering the chance to influence business performance, drive commercial strategy, and support the continued growth of a rapidly expanding Power & Renewables division.

    The Role

As Commercial Lead, you will take ownership of the commercial performance of a diverse portfolio of power and renewable energy projects, ensuring effective contract management, risk mitigation, cost control, and commercial governance from tender stage through to project completion.

Working closely with senior leadership, operations, engineering, and project delivery teams, you will play a key role in protecting commercial interests, strengthening client relationships, and supporting long-term business growth.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead all commercial activities across a portfolio of power and renewable energy projects.
    • Drive revenue, margin, cashflow, and overall business performance.
    • Provide commercial input into tendering, bid strategy, project selection, and contract negotiations.
    • Manage contractual obligations, commercial risk, and change control processes.
    • Oversee project cost control, forecasting, reporting, and final account agreements.
    • Audit live projects to ensure commercial compliance and performance.
    • Support the development of key client relationships and framework agreements.
    • Lead, mentor, and develop commercial and quantity surveying teams.
    • Drive continuous improvement across commercial processes and reporting.

    Requirements

    • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Commercial Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
    • Significant experience in a senior commercial leadership role within engineering, infrastructure, utilities, energy, or construction.
    • Strong understanding of contracts, commercial strategy, risk management, and project delivery.
    • Experience working on power, energy, utilities, transmission & distribution, renewable energy, or major infrastructure projects.
    • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills.
    • Commercially focused with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

    What's on Offer?

    • Senior leadership role with genuine influence over business performance.
    • Long-term pipeline of major energy and infrastructure projects.
    • Opportunity to shape commercial strategy within a growing division.
    • Excellent salary and benefits package, with flexibility for the right individual.
    • Clear career progression within a successful and expanding organisation.
