How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Position: SEND Teacher
    Location: Chelmsford
    Salary Scale: £120–£320 per day
    Contract Type: Full-time

    GSL are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teacher to join a specialist education setting supporting children and young people with a range of additional learning needs. This role involves delivering high-quality, personalised teaching to students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them to develop academically, socially, emotionally, and independently.

    You will work alongside experienced teachers, Learning Support Assistants, therapists, pastoral staff, and external professionals to create an inclusive and nurturing learning environment where every student can thrive and achieve their full potential.

    If you are an Early Career Teacher (ECT), Qualified Teacher, SEN Teacher, SEND Teacher, Primary Teacher, Secondary Teacher, SEMH Teacher, Autism Specialist, or a passionate educator looking to make a meaningful difference, we would love to hear from you.

    You will have opportunities for professional development and will support students in a range of settings, including:

    Delivering personalised teaching and learning programmes
    Supporting students with a range of SEND needs including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Speech & Language needs, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and associated barriers to learning
    Adapting lessons and resources to meet individual learning styles and needs
    Supporting communication, emotional regulation, independence, and social development
    Delivering targeted interventions and differentiated learning activities
    Working collaboratively with families, therapists, and multidisciplinary professionals
    As a SEND Teacher, you will play a key role in supporting students' educational journeys and personal development. You will create engaging, accessible, and inclusive learning experiences that promote confidence, resilience, independence, and positive outcomes.

    Responsibilities:

    Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs
    Support students with SEND to access learning and achieve their personal targets
    Develop and implement strategies to support communication, engagement, and emotional wellbeing
    Monitor, assess, and track student progress against EHCP outcomes and individual targets
    Work collaboratively with Learning Support Assistants, therapists, and wider professionals
    Foster a positive, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
    Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and student wellbeing
    Contribute to annual reviews, progress reports, and multi-agency meetings where required

    Qualifications and Skills:

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
    Strong understanding of SEND and inclusive teaching practices
    Experience supporting students with additional learning needs is desirable
    Excellent communication and classroom management skills
    Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
    Patient, adaptable, and resilient approach
    Commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and student-centred learning
    Passion for supporting children and young people to achieve their full potential
